Anyone could attend. It was doomed to be a rally-type event when the president of the university cancelled classes. Today (wednesday) was supposed to be the first day of classes for the semester, and the students descended on Tucson on Sunday and Monday. They were bored. Of course, all of the students on campus did not attend. My daughter wanted to go to see the spectacle. My husband begged off. hah We went in the afternoon, but when I saw the line, I told her there was no way we could get in and that we could watch the motorcade drive by. I figured out where the motorcade would be traveling (not difficult—follow the yellow tape), and we positioned ourselves in a great place. People watching is what daughter likes to do more than anything else, so she got her fill today. There were all kinds of folks outside the rally. I’m assuming the ones who got in were a mix of dedicated Democrat-type students, select VIPs, and those who just wanted to see the POTUS regardless of who the actual POTUS is. There were people dragging along their children in a hurry to get to the line. There were dressed up people, including some students. There were casually dressed folks. The VIPs who attempted to get through the police tape were the most amusing. I could just hear them, “Don’t you know who I am?” as they huffed away from the cops and SS at the intersection where we were watching. Even funnier were the VIPs who got caught on the other side of the street the motorcade was to travel. They had to wait a long time to be allowed to cross. It was like watching a game of Red Rover after the last police/SS vehicle passed and those folks practically ran across the street. Then they tried to get through the SS/police at the other side of the intersection only to be told that they had to go around the baseball stadium like the other riff-raff. I recognized a few faces in the group. We followed them part of the way. I laughed at the women in heels as they rushed to get to the next barricade. I’m assuming these folks eventually found the VIP entrance. Obviously, they aren’t as important as they think. hah I asked daughter if she was ready to leave, and she said that was fine. She informed me that a Lady Gaga event would have drawn 10 times the people. At least.

I just read an article via the Tucson Citizen about the 9 year old girl’s family having their own private church ceremony tonight while this circus was happening. That was good to hear.

Somewhere tonight I read a post about one of the speakers calling Tucson a small town. There are over a million people in the greater Tucson area, but it has a small town feel to it. I wouldn’t have believed that if we had never lived here. It’s known as the largest small town in America.

I expected a “memorial” but it didn’t sound like it. Passing out T-shirts? The cheers? It was undignified, even disgusting.

Last night the site was very good. Tonight it is very slow and a few times I had the “Server not found” message. Not being a technology expert, I can only guess that parts of the server have failed; leaving what’s left to limp along.

Seeing I am trying hard to remain compassionate in life, well until the zombies walk,

I watched from the beginning this sad and emotionally draining event being presented to the people to assist them in finding closure, to remember those that had fallen, and to offer support emotionally for the loss of loved ones and friends.

The Indian blessing, I could see why, but such a cheap political stunt.

“Fanfare for the Common Man”
I was expecting someone to bring out the Chick-Fil-A pipe organ and start whoomp pahh paahh’ing in the background...

I was with a few friends, one of them is a Funeral Director, he just groaned and shook his head and walked out saying “These people passed away, by Gods grace I hope they given His care, and that they cannot hear this circus in their honor”

National Anthem
Have a look at any video reply you have and see how the 1st lady actually was lip sync’ing and really did not know the words to the National Anthem, really I was watching close, she blew it till right to the end when she finally remembered the last 5 words.

Another of those with me is hard of hearing, so he lip reads a lot, he pointed this out that she was just dribbling crap and was not forming words at all when moving her lips.....

The list goes on and I am sure many of you on here have listed a lot more before I post this, I shall save what I felt was the climax of the groups breaking up and walking out of the den....

From my friends wife, whom one could call the mouse as she is so sized, but her mind is as sharp as a tack when it comes to heights and mobility....

Her statement floored us all... “Now I know how he (Ob's) looked the same height behind the podium as that tall man who was doing all the introductions and lead in’s..... He was standing on the coffin of that poor 9 year old child”

She cried after saying that, she is not a strong person by nature, suffice to say she has shown me that she is a soft hearted, calm, rational God loving woman, who can find the good in an situation, and would shelter your heart till it renewed...... I think her statement sums up how we all perceived this disgusting heartless political rape of the victims, their families grief and loss, and the moral and ethical heartbeat of the citizens of this great country.

IDGARA whom I offended

EL

Is "Together We Thrive" his 2012 campaign slogan or a one-time slogan for this event?

I hope it IS his 2012 campaign slogan because it's weak.

Why does Obama seem so, I don’t know,-—I guess the word is hollow?? Someone once described watching him the same as watching a hologram, and that is how I felt tonight. An empty, core-less, ghost of a real human-—my pug dog has more compassion and milk of human kindness in its little doggie toenail than Obama has in his whole body. The whole spectacle was a sham.

I saw the slogan on stickers as well. The slogan was also flashing on the shuttle buses that brought people to the event. I gotta say that that was creepy. The people carrying the stickers did not look like young college students. They looked more like campaign worker bees, but who can really tell the difference these days?????????

I don’t really have any complaints with the president or first lady regarding their behavior today except for maybe the president could have asked the crowd to be more respectful, or he could have emphasized that it was a somber occasion. I can’t imagine sitting on the stage while my spouse was fighting for his life. (her in the case of Captain Kelly)

**'Together We Thrive.' **

Someone on another thread had a picture of all the people who were killed with the caption:"Together we died."

Thank you for your first hand account of the activities! I thought of you when I heard about the shootings, hoping you and yours were okay.

It’s very good to “see” you...;o)

Thanks for posting the pictures.

In these pictures, Kelly’s facial expression around BO reminds me of the picture of Bush, Cheney and BO at BO’s inauguration: Cheney was giving BO the same look.

“BTW the T-Shirts and Programs were written and distributed by the college.”

They were? Why am I not surprised?

Not only did it have a creepy leftist college professorial feel to it, it also had a creepy union feel to it.

Those two go hand in hand...
