Is it a memorial or an Obama rally? Souvenir t-shirts emblazoned with the logo for the 'Together We Thrive' gathering at the University of Arizona were placed on chairs at the arena ahead of the memorial.
It's odd for a memorial to a mass murder to have a logo, but it's crass to hand out souvenir t-shirts.

All he needs are his greek columns and a balloon drop like one freeper said in the other thread. This is going to be a national embarrassment...i can feel it coming. One student’s quote:
“Officials opened the doors at 4 p.m., and the crowd cheered. Attorney General Eric Holder also is attending.
“This is going to be, obviously, a huge event. One of those defining moments in American history,” said Phoenix resident David Bier, who arrived at 3:15 am.
The crowd ‘cheered’?....OMG.
Wow, memorial swag.
I’m sorry about the shootings, certainly a tragedy but I have to ask, did this require a presidential event?
Disgusting. I thought just naming the memorial was bad enough, particularly since it wasn’t named after any of the victims or even of the victims collectively. This is absolutely disgraceful. And the taxpayers have to pay for this embarrassment!
We don’t have a very big black population in Tucson, but the local media is finding them to interview at the hospital where most of the wounded are (UMC). One lady couldn’t even pronounce or seem to know the congresswoman’s name (I would say she was tongue-tied, but that’s being too nice) and just wanted to push her “I came here to see the first black president” agenda.
In general, I’m ashamed of most of the people they’re putting on to speak, I hope this footage doesn’t air nationally. We look like a bunch of buffoons, and of course everyone already knows about Dupnik now.
Is the idiot 0bama going to attend the funeral of the federal judge, Judge Roll? (or did he? Not exactly sure if it’s taken place yet.)
I truly hope Brewer leaves, saying something like, “The selling of T-shirts at a memorial is in very bad taste, and I’ll have no part of it,” and invites all of the victims’ friends and families to the governor’s mansion.
Lotsa good links in Arizona. I’m guessing both.
I also read there will be concession stands..what next..how about a petting zoo
Can’t wait for the 24/7 political ads with Giffords claiming her wounds were caused by Republican hate.
Oh, no. On another thread this morning I wondered if they were going to turn it into a bumper sticker. This is sick. Really sick.
Bet they were produced by illegal union labor.
Bubba's coming to Tucson ?
I’m surprised it’s not a ‘hoodie’.
No, and especially not after the sky turned murky and birds started dropping from the clouds about an hour and a half ago... I knew His Excellence had arrived.....
I can’t believe my town is contaminated by him.
/sorry for my hate speech rant
To him, the "shout out" is the serious stuff.
Exactly.
