Sheriff Dupnik keeps shooting himself in the foot, if you’ll excuse the irresponsibly...
Daily Caller ^ | 1/12/11 | Jim Treacher

If someone you loved was murdered in broad daylight by a raving lunatic, how would you want your local law enforcement to proceed? The list of expectations might go something like this:

Sheriff Dupnik doesn’t seem like a very good law enforcement officer. Or person. Every day we’re finding out more and more about his ineptitude. Sheriff’s deputies paid repeated visits to the Loughner home. The killer had made previous death threats, and Dupnik knew about them. The killer’s classmates and teachers were terrified of him. He was throwing off lone-gunman vibes everywhere he went. And yet he was able to buy a gun and ammunition. How did all that happen right under Dupnik’s nose? How did somebody that screwed up fall through the cracks? Are we supposed to believe Sarah Palin is the one who missed all that? Did Glenn Beck somehow prevent Dupnik from doing his job? Was he too busy worrying about Bill O’Reilly?

And what’s the prosecutor supposed to do with this case, now that this bumbling idiot Dupnik has crapped all over it?

Well, he’s good enough for the Commander in Chief:

In a phone call this afternoon with Sheriff Dupnik, according to White House spokesman Nicholas Shapiro, the President “thanked him for his department’s efforts to respond to this incident and coordinate with the FBI and Director Mueller on the investigation.”

It’s true, Dupnik responded much the way Obama would if he could: find some scapegoats among one’s political enemies, blame them for everything to deflect attention from your own ineptitude, and repeat as often as possible.

I think Pima County is going to see a surge of newcomers who move there strictly to vote in the next election for sheriff. I’d say something about hoping Dupnik goes down in a hail of ballots, but we all know how literal-minded our friends on the left become when it suits them.

P.S. A friend of the killer speaks: “He did not watch TV. He disliked the news. He didn’t listen to political radio. He didn’t take sides. He wasn’t on the left. He wasn’t on the right.” Which matters only if you’re interested in the facts.

He’s the kind of unthinking, idiotic front man our Dear Leader surrounds himself with. It’s no surprise Obama would thank him.

Gotcha Sheriff Clarence “Jackas*” Dupnik

Oh, you better hope this is not true:

“The sheriff has been editorializing and politicizing the event since he took the podium to report on the incident. His blaming of radio personalities and bloggers is a pre-emptive strike because Mr. Dupnik knows this tragedy lays at his feet and his office. Six people died on his watch and he could have prevented it. He needs to step up and start apologizing to the families of the victims instead of spinning this event to serve his own political agenda.”

What have I been saying? That in point of fact the Sheriff had every opportunity to stop this assault by actually enforcing the law and didn’t do so.

Well now the truth is alleged to be this..... it’s much worse, it appears, than anyone thought:

“Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation.”

What’s your response to this Mr. Dupnik? A bit of truth comes out, eh? Exactly how many felonies did you decline to investigate and prosecute? Are you going to slink away from the white-hot light of truth or will you “man up” and admit that your scurrilous allegations were disseminated simply to try to save your own hide from the entirely-appropriate wrath at the ballot box that is certain to ensue come next election?

The suspect didn’t just post one threat on an Internet forum and there wasn’t “just one” incident - it’s alleged here that he made multiple death threats against the staff of the college he was ejected from, radio personalities and local bloggers.

Each and every one of those threats was an offense and had just one of them been prosecuted it would have resulted in the suspect being blacklisted in the NICS database - and thus he would not have been able to buy the gun he shot the people in Tuscon with.

And before you go off on this guy and his blog being some sort of nut, here’s the credentials from his page:

James Kelley is a native of Tucson, born here in 1961. A Navy veteran, he graduated twice from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey CA majoring in Albanian and Persian-Farsi. He was a Balkan area, Middle East North Africa, Southwest Asia, and Gulf Area analyst for the Naval Security Group and the National Security Agency. He received his Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of the State of New York, Albany. Since leaving the service he has worked as a premium cruise line representative, telecommunications specialist, real estate broker, and as a substitute teacher in local school districts.

Presently, Mr. Kelley is a contributing columnist for the Arizona News-Telegraph and the Executive Director of SocialNetworkingWatchdog.Org, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to educating youth and seniors on personal security while using social networking.

Does Arizona have a recall process for so-called “elected officials” who behave like this and refuse to accept responsibility for their conduct - including but not limited to blaming others for their own failures that result in the death of innocent people? How about some sort of impeachment procedure? If you don’t, you need both - right now.

Best-a-luck in the next election Sheriff. You’re gonna need it.

Deputy Dipstick is responsible for Loughner’s actions. Loughner was reacting to Deputy Dipstick’s incompetence and hateful disposition.

So the FBI has the Reuters story about him stating that Loughner made death threats in their big Dupenik file, right ?

Just like to hear him go over his whole investigation file under oath... that would be a lot of err... uhhh..

There’s definitely going to be a big ol’ lawsuit by the victims against mom and dad, Pima County and the Sheriff... ouch, that’s gonna hurt.

They’ll all turn on each other, rats that they are...

Ol’ Jared will just sit there smilin’ that wacky smile...

So unfortunate...

When I first heard of this incident it was his press conf., I thought it was very strange he would do such a thing, and now I understand and agree with you, other than Loughners himself, the responsibility for the errors and omissions and the second most responsible appears to be Dupnik.

I can’t believe that the people of “Tuscon” would stand for Dipstik referring to Pima County as a “Mecca for prejudice and bigotry”. Comparing Arizonans with Islamofascists is disgraceful. They need to fire his @$$. (Disclaimer: Not in a gun way.)

Everyone should take a look around in their own county and ask themselves if their sheriff is a “dupnik”. Our sheriff’s dept. was responsible for Jacey Dugard staying three more years in captivity, but we have yet to hear of any punishment for the so-called officers who went to the home at the insistence of the neighbors to investigate. I met with our County Supervisor on this matter only to find out that the “good” sheriff is independent of the county administration. But I did get the sense that he is viewed negatively by the Board. So we have a dupnik, do you?

“When I first heard of this incident it was his press conf., I thought it was very strange he would do such a thing, ...

Me too, exactly agree. I’ll admit I had no particularly gelled idea as to what was going on w/Stupnik, but it struck me as weird, weird, weird that here was this LEO in a post-event press conference, and how many dozens of times have we seen an identical situation and the LEO says 57 times until we cannot stand to hear it any more, “no comment” or “we can not comment while the incident is under investigation”...
