Controversial nut-job minister, Fred Phelps from Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas told anyone who would listen to his disturbing rant on YouTube that the shooter was sent by God. These Westboro Church leaders are equally as guilty as the shooter who took his anger out on innocent folks gathering to meet their Congresswoman last Saturday.
The facts first, Jared Loughner was a lone shooter operating on a limited mental capacity who killed six and injured 11 others. His killing swathe included a federal judge, clergy member, Republican, Democrat and a nine-year-old child.

I’m speachless, these people are cowards enlisted by the devil.
Doubtful. However, you Mr Phelps, are sent by the spastic diarrhetic colon of mankind.
When someone finally takes a baseball bat to Phelps’ kneecaps, I suspect he won’t be asserting that the bat-wielder was “sent by God.”
Maybe this guys god should send someone to take this reverend and his flock of sheep out in same manner. What a bunch of sick twisted f*cks. They are all cut from the same cloth as the sick a$$hole who pulled the trigger.
He is a Democrat lawyer, a Gore-supporter, a liberal and an NAACP honoree.
Reading this outrageous stunt by Phelps makes me happy about one thing: knowing he will face judgement day after defying God’s many words and commandments while preaching that he is representing HIM.
If the shooter was sent by God, then God is an accomplice that is as guilty as the shooter. Good luck with that indictment.
A special place in Hell is reserved for these folks, if they fail to repent of their hatred.
What does Fred Phelps actually believe? It is, somehow, even weirder than you expected:
In fact, it appears that Westboro has created not just an incredibly vulgar and non-Christlike approach to homosexuality, but that it's working on a new religion altogether, complete with new scriptures.
Members of WBC generally avoid the name "Christian" when referring to themselves, preferring the mysterious term "Tachmonite."
The Tachmonites believe Phelps is "the last prophet," with the power to determine who will be damned and who will be saved. They themselves, as followers of Phelps, also have the power to condemn souls to hell. Most people are destined for hell, but "Good Samaritans" who help the Tachmonites (for example, police officers who prevent counter-protesters from assaulting them) may be offered an indeterminate "reward" for their good conduct.
They've written their own scriptures, which are divided into two categories: "delectable epics" and "letters to heretics." The "delectable epics" (the term is the group's) are based loosely on Acts in the New Testament. The epics detail the Tachmonites' various protests against gays, President Bush, Elton John concerts, and the military and portray the Tachmonites alternately as invincible "super heroes" and defenseless victims of brutal rage. Some of the epics are in prose, and some in poetry.
And there's more (at the link).
Truly tired of these media-whores getting what they want - attention.
But the shooter is queer...and according to this group God hates queers.
I would rather "that he would turn from his wickedness and live."
Isn’t this “hate speech”? Isn’t “hate speech” being blamed the for the shooting in AZ?
I think we should put this bastid and his “Hate speech” in jail.....Wouldn’t want anybody else to start shooting if he happens to hear this “hate speech.)/sarc
Shhhhh.....tone down the rhetoric! Now you did it, expect the lefties to add baseball bats to their shopping list. ;)
Alan Colmes occassionally gives free air time to Shirley Roper Phelps, to demonstrate how ‘right wing’ she is. Alan knows better, and I have lost all respect for him.
BTW, ground zero here, live in Topeka, and have seen Fred up close and personal. These people are worse than you can imagine. When you see their road show on tv, they have adults holding disgusting signs. Here in Topeka, they use small children.
According to Google Maps, a bird's eye view of the "church" appears to be just a residence. There's no indication of a parking lot but there is a swimming pool and basketball court at the location.
The Westboro Bastards have sunk to a new low.
“According to Google Maps, a bird’s eye view of the “church” appears to be just a residence. There’s no indication of a parking lot but there is a swimming pool and basketball court at the location.”
The ‘compound’ is in a residential area, known as Westboro, which is where they get their name.
You’ve piqued my interest, so I have looked on the county property viewer. Two houses to the west, that house is owned by Timothy Phelps. The one immediately west is owned by a name I don’t recognize, Hinkle. The house immediately south of the compound is a name I don’t know (McQueen). But, immediately west of that, the house is owned by Jonathan Phelps, next one west Abigail Phelps, next one west Brent and Shirley Roper...as in Shirley Roper Phelps (a strange juxtaposition of surnames his daughter uses). Continuing west, across the street, Elizabeth Phelps, next one west Samuel Phelps. And, back to immediately west of the green area, Rebekah Phelps. And also across the street to the north, one house is owned by Margie Phelps.
So, they own damn near an entire block. The compound has a tax exemption as a church; and, I assume that means nobody lives in it. But, all the members live in the surrounding houses...and there is probably a violation or two of the single family zoning going on.
So, no parking lot. You don’t just ‘go to church’ with these guys...you live right next to it.
The ‘church’ is listed as a ‘Single Family Residence’, two and a half story, 7,342 square feet of living space.
I was in Topeka not long ago and had I more time, I would have driven over from Wanamaker to the Westboro neighborhood to take a look. Do they have a big "Visitors Welcome" sign in front of the so-called "church"? :-)
I was somewhat surprised to see that they had an oridinary listing in the Yellow Pages under the "Church" classification. My guess is that's just part of the ruse to get tax-exempt status.
