In the wake of the tragic shooting in Tuscon, Ariz. that left six dead and 14 injured, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Fox News President Roger Ailes is saying that his network and others in politics and the media need to "tone it down."
In an interview with Russell Simmons, published today by Simmons' website Global Grind, Ailes addressed the tragedy and the partisan rhetoric some say is to blame for the incident.
Ailes to some extent defended Sarah Palin's use of crosshairs imagery during the 2010 campaign, arguing that such rhetoric was not uncommon in politics. Palin has come under criticism in the wake of the shooting for having created a "target list" of lawmakers she hoped to unseat, including Giffords. Palin released a map featuring the 20 targeted House Democrats that used crosshairs to show their districts.

But Ailes called the use of such imagery "bulls**t" and said "both sides are wrong, but they both do it."
"I told all of our guys, shut up, tone it down, make your argument intellectually," the Fox News president said. "You don't have to do it with bombast. I hope the other side does that."

It is the liberal media that needs to tone it down.
You mean we need to sit down and shut up while the Left can assault us at every turn? Screw you, Ailes!
I say tone it up.
I say give em hell, give em no quarter and double the vitriol!
Eat it, Ailes.

The left is not just the ones to STFU but get out of our faces and our wallets. Mind its own business and LUTF alone.
''I don't regret setting bombs, I feel we didn't do enough.'' Lib-terrorist and Obama friend Bill Ayers
Tone WHAT down? His speaking is the “synthesis” part of the Hegelian dialectic. The Communists(D) scream RACIST, the Progressives(R) say, no we are not. Then the Progressive(R’s) trim the political discussions. I mean, if they don’t cut the criticisms, people will not like them. Apologies to those that still believe the Republicans are conservative. After all the kowtowing to 0 during the lame duck session, I figure it proves my point.
Retards, totally they are.
(Fox is as bad as the rest.) Useless, they are.
Ailes should just keep Shepherd Smith and Geraldo as his only fulltime “reporters”. Then have Bob Beckel, Alan Colmes and Juan Williams as correspondents. He could keep the Chucklebee show and maybe replace Hannity with Karl Rove and O’Reilly with Mara Liasson. As far as a replacement for Beck’s timeslot, I hear Larry King is available. This will solve all his pesky problems and the MSM will stop saying mean things about him.
I think this was aimed at Hannity, whom you have to admit does rant. OTOH he is usually right. But sometimes I wish he’d use a bit more of an intellectual approach.
I’d like one example of Fox News spewing the same crap on the other networks. For Fox to tone it down anymore they’d have to close it down.
I read the whole article at that nit-wit Russells website no one ever heard of. Other than thinking why he would talk to this Commie Pinko Rap mogul, I thaught Ailes was good.
He is running a new organization. We complain here all the time at the crazy ramblings of the other news outlets. I like that FOX was at least adult in their coverage.
Except for that poofter Shemp Smith. He is a Lib Rat POS and was just itching to start bashing the right in his interviews with people with agendas.
The quote attributed to Harry Truman,”I don’t give them hell. I just tell the truth and they think it is hell.” should have been used by Ailes. Unfortunatly, he seems to have caved.
He better be talking about Jerry Rivers....
