Washington Post media reporter Paul Farhi was complete enough in his reporting on the internal NPR review of the Juan Williams firing on Saturday that he included financial numbers that NPR released on the bonuses of NPR CEO Vivian Schiller. The decision to cancel her bonus over that Fox-loathing fiasco was a six-figure decision:According to tax records released by NPR on Friday, Schiller received a bonus of $112,500 in May 2010, about 17 months after she was hired by the Washington-based organization. This was in addition to a base salary of $450,000.

NPR executives making this much is an outrage. Just one more clue that this is a quasi-liberal-government scam. They are one of the “unofficial” media organs for the DemonRat Party and the Commpunist Party USA. They are no better than ACORN.

It should be noted that the super high wages runs rampant throughout the non-profit sector. No priavte radio station can come close to competing with these salaries, nor most radio networks as these personalities would never pull this kind of revenue.

What’s wrong with that? When you receive the peoples tax money, you can pay anything you want. The answer to the problem is to cut off government funds to NPR.

Sickening that these brainwashing parasites get government funding from me. That is the same as the Germans paying Goebbels for his agitprop in Germany—whoops...they did. Government controlled media....what a concept....wonder where that originated????

Certainly the idea was anathema to the Founding Fathers.....They were so very wise. Geniuses really. When did we start emulating fascists and their policies?

Not for profit is a purely subjective point of view huh? They are all run like this. The Red Cross and state run university systems are two more of the most outrageous scams for the connected. It’s a long list.

1. Why would a person working for a government funded non-profit propaganda organization get a bonus? What could it possibly be based on?

2. Wouldn't the $400 MILLION used to fund NPR/PBS be better spent on health care?

In order to see what Public TV or Radio people arn look up the “Form 990” and add the call letters of the station. Here in Dallas, the president of our pulic station Kera, earns 364,000 plus bonus. Why give during their fundraisers when the top four employees earn in excess of $1,000,000 for running a programs that is mostly programs created by someone else?

Was it Jesse Ventura who remarked that when campaigning, he was shocked at the latest and best technology and systems at public radio/tv facilities? When shooting/recording at private sector facilities, things where taped together and jerried any old way to limp along the best way possible.

I am sure that is true, too. My friend used to work at a public TV sta and told me they are so far in the black it is laughable!!!!

I worked at one for about 11 years, the last few in a futile attempt to get beyond videotape operator/data entry for Louth (crapware), handholder, Mr. takecareofit, etc, etc.

There usually wasn't a dime for personnel except for a chosen one to get a raise/promotion or a new manager that wasn't needed. However there was ALWAYS money for new toys and gadgets. With the new toys and gadgets, only chosen ones were allowed to really learn anything. Any commoner was ignored, brushed to the side, or quietly threatened away.

There is fear in public TV land here with Nikki H.

Corporation for Public Broadcasting needs to be de-funded this week. They should do it while they are drinking their morning coffee. With the country bankrupt this shouldn’t even be an issue that requires more than a moment’s reflection.

Even if we weren’t bankrupt, after what we saw with the way they dealt with Juan Williams, and the fact that they are taking money from Soros should be reason enough to de-fund them - we should not be funding a Soros operation. But we are bankrupt and don’t really need a reason. They can sell advertising time like everyone else.

Is there really a shortage of radio stations out there? Your dial is so full there are hardly any dead frequencies available for anyone new. We’ve got hundreds more on XM. De-fund them now. Don’t even wait another day.

Probably not the leftard chumps who respond to their fund raising appeals. It's time to cut off all their taxpayer money and force them to rely on those fund-raising appeals and on their sponsors.

One of my reasons for never giving another penny to PBS was evidenced last night. My wife conned me into watching Masterpiece Theatre along with our 11-year old son. It was some modern knock-off of one of the Bronte’s or Austen’s tales about the English gentry. All was going well for about an hour until a scene where two rump rangers started making out. Thus, with me pressing the “off” button, it suffered a premature death.

When are the RINOs going to cut off the funding for this crap?

In fact, when are the RINOs going to defund, then obliterate the "National Endowment for the Arts"?
