Coldest January Since 1985 Could be Taking Shape
AccuWeather.com ^ | Jan 7, 2011

Posted on 01/09/2011 9:57:53 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

For people who hate cold weather, the forecast for the next couple of weeks is bad news. Waves of frigid air invading the U.S. will become progressively colder and more widespread, with the worst coming in the third week of January.

Many people in the East will get a slight taste of the colder air this weekend before more substantial cold takes hold from coast to coast next week.

This upcoming cold weather pattern could yield snow or ice in places that don't often get it. Seattle, Wash., Portland, Ore., Dallas, Texas, Memphis, Tenn., and Charlotte, N.C., are all in the running for possible snow or ice next week.

How widespread the cold air is across the U.S. through mid- to late month could make this the coldest January for the nation as a whole since 1985, according to AccuWeather.com Chief Long Range Forecaster Joe Bastardi.

Thanksgiving weekend in the Seattle area it snowed 18 inches on one day, then the next day snowed another 14. Temps dropped to single digits.

It was a fun winter.

‘85 was the last time the Bears won the Super Bowl. Maybe it is time for another. The victory parade was in near Zero weather. Didn’t miss a game that year and won’t this one either.

I well remember the winter of ‘85 too, I was living on the southern edge of LAKE ERIE, with the lake effect weather, and with all lake effect weather entails.

If it had been a warm winter back in 85, there would have been fewer babies born in October of 85.

There was one winter in the early 1970’s (73-74?) that Jamaica Bay froze over. Birds that had migrated to Gateway bird sanctuary for the winter had a difficult time feeding. Traffic slowed down in the Rockaways because Canadian Geese clogged the roadways.

It was the time I remember it completely freezing over.

I grew up an hour south of Cleveland and we had record cold around that same time. I was in 5th grade at the time and I remember it was the first time I ever had school cancelled the night before.

(Global warming? Global Bologna!)

Truth, the great global warming scam perpetuated by the communist left to ensnare the weak minded know-it-alls and the young in todays government run indoctrination centers. Communists need to deceive by fear and false science and have made great inroads in a once great nation, now a seething heap of cowdung, a dying vestige of former freedom.
The political powers have decimated the once free nation of America and have made slaves of its inhabitants.

In the winter, this hemisphere is tilted away from the sun, so regardless of “global warming,” if it exists or not, it’s going to be cold. Pay more attention to science and less to the mythology class at church.

For 2 decades the democrat mainstream media has been saying CO2 ( capitalism) is causing global warming and so destroying the planet.

So the Earth starts cooling and the media change the name of global warming to climate change. The democrat sheep still believe the media and their fake global warming hoax, bp oil “disaster”, swine flu, blaming the shootings on Palin, and Republicans etc.
