Jared Lee Loughner, the suspect in Saturday's mass shooting in Tucson, was rejected from enlistment in the U.S. Army because of issues related to his history of drug use, military officials said Sunday.
In Loughner's case, it appears that his drug use was the problem, and he has a prior drug-related conviction.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik knew
that jl was a a threat to Congresswoman Giffords
and to a residents of Pima county and chose to not
fulfill his obligation as Sheriff.Clarence was derelict in his duty
and complicit in mass murder.
That didn’t stop a certain individual from becoming commander-in-chief of the Army and the Navy. What a strange world we live in.
Uh, he was a self-admitted homosexual, too.
Maybe if he had just waited a bit he could of shoved his way in and have been showering up with soap on a rope by this fall.
BUT. BUT. The other Democrats claimed that he was a Afghanistan Vet.
Others even claimed it was a direct result of the Damn Tea Party.
I know. Knee Jerk reaction by Democrats of this nature is to be expected. Tells you a lot about their physiological profiles.
He complained of being given a Bible when he had checked a form saying “No religion”.
Clarence was derelict in his duty

Shout it from the Tree Tops....believe me it is being covered up. Shame there is no Law Enforcement Agency that can be trusted that is involved in this case.
When you go through the MEPS processing line, you are offered a Bible. You do not have to take it.
Well duh, "No religion" doesn't mean you want a Bible.
Some are claiming that since he never was formally enlisted, the Bible story can not be true. Can you explain the process a bit more? Do you go thru processing (get the Bible) and then still can get rejected?
I was never offered a Bible in the seven years I spent in the USAF.
Bible story? (head spins, can’t keep up) What Bible story?
he has a prior drug-related conviction.
___
Does a drug conviction preclude someone from buying a gun?
Where did you read this? Just curious.
You are asked if you are a ‘user’ of pot, which doesn’t mean much.. Obviously they’ll say no.
Any pot (or worse drug) conviction probably should be a ban however, it’s a sign of extremely flawed judgement.
Probably depends on the drug. If he got caught smoking pot, it’s a pretty minor offense. If he’s caught with something harder like cocaine or oxycontin, he would probably face felony charges and would then be ineligible if convicted.
How in the world did he pass a background check for a gun?
I read somewhere that an army recruiter said that he never got past the urine analysis.
