WASHINGTON Two more big guns of the conservative movement confirmed today they are not participating in the Conservative Political Action Conference next month because of the continued participation of the homosexual activist organization GOProud.
The Heritage Foundation, the largest think tank in Washington and not known as part of the religious right, confirmed that it is not taking part in what has been the largest annual gathering of conservatives in the country. Heritage has been an active participant in CPAC every year for the last 10.
"We have withdrawn," said Mike Gonzalez, vice president of communications for the Heritage Foundation. "We have been there for many, many years at the highest level of participation.
"We believe in the traditional definition of the family," Gonzalez explained. "We believe in defending the family against any threats that come against it. We're not for gay marriage. We don't think institutions that have existed for millennia can be done away with at the drop of a hat."
Gonzalez emphasized that the "three pillars" of conservatism, economic liberty, national defense and social conservatism, are "indivisible."
In addition, the Media Research Center, led by Brent Bozell, a longtime associate of the hosting organization, the American Conservative Union, announced it was dropping out.
"We've been there 25 years, since our inception," said Bozell. "To bring in a 'gay' group is a direct attack on social conservatives, and I can't participate in that."

good, let the homosexuals have a big meeting by themselves
Will the DC Chapter have a booth there this year?
Obviously, libertarians and neocons are attempting to re-set the rightwing agenda within the DC power structure.
This is not Ronald Reagan's CPAC. No thanks!
My feelings are this: If a given religious group wants to sanction gay marriage, and if a given insurance company wants to acknowledge said marriage, fine by me. However, for the government to legislate based on sexual preference is unconscionable.
Did they really give you a hassle? I had a disagreement with Keene's Assistant a few years ago when they banned Ann Coulter from the main stage the year after she made the John Edwards “faggot” remark. I felt like I was arguing with a Democrat.
Keep up the good work!

Republican party voters, leaders, pundits, and mainstream right of center media, ALL are in search of good press from the massive, all-powerful leftwing media/Hollywood/Academia.
It is all but impossible not to succumb. The exclusive goal now is too run only media darlings, with ZERO battle scars.
But, there is still a small contingent of like-minded to try and build something new....without MSM approval.
The GOP is dead, they just don’t know it yet.
Second Amendment Sisters will not be having a booth there this year.
Anyone happen to know if Michele Bachmann is among the speakers this year - she was a speaker at last year’s CPAC.
Good
Well sounds to me like the homos at GOPROUD are happly little fairys today.
Startin’ to look a little lean inside that big tent.
Thanks.
No. The D.C. Chapter stopped having a booth at CPAC a few years ago. It was getting more expensive each year and the new exhibit space (a drafty parking garage) sucked.
I'd say it differently ..
... that GOProud should just play with themselves ...
... but they might like it.
As a women of integrity Michele Bachmann would avoid it.
It is a Romney kind of place.
CPAC/ACU is run by David Keene, involved in scandal after scandal.
Palin-bashing CPAC/ACU Chair donated $2,000 to Arlen Specter, endorsed Mitt Romney-care
Exclusive: Conservative group offers support for $2M (Shame on Keene)
Wow, when you’ve lost The Heritage Foundation...
