I spoke too soon. It seems like the Obama administration HAS been drinking and IS spoiling for a fight with the NRA, GOA and right-minded gun owners everywhere. All the Presidents Men (or at least the ones who think its a good idea to stir-up the Democratic partys far-left base) have renominated Andrew Traver to head the headless Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (and Really Big Fires). mainjustice.com is the bearer of sad tidings: The ATF has never had a Senate-confirmed leader, as the gun-regulation agency has been buffeted by the fierce politics surrounding firearms ownership . . . Acting Director Keneth Melson has led the agency since 2009. Grab some popcorn and get ready to email your Senator. This is gonna blow up good.
With the new Senate filibuster destruction, this will be an easy confirmation.
NO COMPROMISES!!
I’m puking sick of RINOS!
This is the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War ! Will history repeat itself ?
Agree for sure. Th ATF has long been a rogue organization. In fact, the Branch Davidian massacre and Ruby Ridge killings can be in large part laid at the feet of the ATF, along with Butch Reno, don't want to forget her...
>With the new Senate filibuster destruction, this will be an easy confirmation...
Wasn’t aware that that was more than talk at this point.
Frankly I have no confidence in the GOP as a whole. Facts not withstanding they’ll confirm the guy. See how easily they went for the Wise Latina? Don’t thing this episode will be any different.
They were floating it to see how outraged people would be.
Of course they’d plan on demanding it be changed back when they lose the Senate majority in 2012.
Defund the czars.
There is a very decent chance that even Dems will balk at the rules change, because it diminishes an individual Senator's power.
DE-FUND!!!!!
