Apple now calls Christian belief "objectionable and potentially harmful"
The Manhattan Project ^ | 12/23/2010 | no byline

Apple is telling us that the apps' content is considered "likely to expose a group to harm" and "to be objectionable and potentially harmful to others." Inasmuch as the Manhattan Declaration simply reaffirms the moral teachings of our Christian faith on the sanctity of human life, marriage and sexual morality, and religious freedom and the rights of conscience, Apple's statement amounts to the charge that our faith is "potentially harmful to others."

"potentially harmful to others."

Like the 9/11 attacks, "honor" killings, the murder of Christians?

If Rush is pimping it, it is almost certainly paid advertising. Why would you think otherwise?

It is of a piece with their smarmy, elitist condescension

yep

I put Apple owners and Prius Owners in the same box.

Each product has a niche that it fills well. However, beyond those that want the right tool for the job, the other 95% of the people who use them are intolerably smug about it.

Steve Jobs was adopted... his birth parents were Syrian Muslims. Abdulfattah Jandali was his father.

Must disagree with you about “incoherency”. Apple has ALWAYS been “of the left”. Just like all leftist organizations, they pissed and moaned about “capitalism”, while pushing monopolist policies as far as they could get away with.

Still, ya got to remember that the appl that Eve bit (if it was an apple) was the fruit of the tree of “knowledge of good and evil”, not just general knowledge (see Genesis 2:8).

Obviously, Apple has no knowledge of the evil that they do.

And what of boycotts? Are they effective? Or are there other, better strategies for a situation like this?

I've posted before on FR with criticisms of Apple's walled garden approach to what applications consumers can run on Apple-made iPhone and iPad devices which they've purchased and which do not belong to Apple. Some folks on FR applauded Apple's insistence on banning apps they deemed too adult or too politically controversial. But there is value in the concept of private ownership and being able to do what you want with your own property.

Fortunately, in this case there are alternatives. Android, for one.

"This from the people who stole the trademark from the Beatles."

As if anyone should be allowed to trademark the word 'Apple'.

Bureaucrats are stupid and cause stupidity waves to emanate out into the world resulting in stultifying ignorance and imbecility.

Ok. "Potentially". Right. So what is Islam? Oh, most definitely harmful to others. Proven. No equivocation can be tolerated on that count. Let's see Steve Jobs refute it. Please, Steve. Give it your best shot.

What a putz.

I appreciate your insight but I stand by my choice of words. A moral system is incoherent if it is logically unsustainable. If the first premise of morals is “do no harm,” and a proposed moral system merely trades one set of harms for another, or has internal inconsistencies predicting its own demise and the flourishing of greater harms than it sought to prevent, then it is incoherent. The morality of the left is guilty on both counts, grounded as it is on the shifting sands of relativism, adrift on the sea of postmodern deconstructionism, the only possible child of the Nietzschean monstrosity unleashed by the abandonment of God as the ground of morality. It will die of its own burden. It is quite incoherent.
