Dr. Andrew Wakefield's 1998 report in the journal Lancet purporting to show a link between autism and the vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella "was based not on bad science but on a deliberate fraud," says Dr. Fiona Godlee, editor in chief of BMJ, formerly the British Medical Journal, in an editorial published Tuesday. The editorial accompanies the first of three reports by British investigative journalist Brian Deer that document how Wakefield manipulated data in his attempts to prove something that he "knew" before he started his research. Most of the information in the reports has been published previously, but the recent publication of the General Medical Council's 6-million-word transcript of the hearing in which Wakefield's license to practice medicine in Britain was revoked allowed the editors of BMJ to peer-review Deer's reports and confirm the extensive falsifications in the original Lancet paper.

So - what is causing the apparent dramatic rise in diagnosed Autism? Better identification/diagnosis? Or is there another cause?
Or is Autism another over-diagnosed issue like so many “syndromes”?

Did your report on the Wakefield study make note of the fact that it was commissioned and funded for planned lawsuits against BIG PHARMA? You should read the actual story in the British Medical Journal regarding Wakefield’s fraud. Some of the parents of the kids in the study are really ticked off that he so misrepresented their conditions both pre- and post-vaccination.
By the way, Ben Franklin and George Washington were patriots who put their lives on the line. John Wayne never actually set foot on the sands of Iwo Jima (though he was good at play-acting).
How sad. It is an overload of toxins, I am sure. The body can’t function properly and babies and small children are very susceptible to any toxins and they inject a number of known toxins with every vaccine.
How do we know what is in the vaccine anyway, if batches are made in China? How can we be sure about any of them? Really? Trust government agencies???? There was a doctor once whose son was tested after coming down with Autism—they tested for toxins. He was way off the charts. They started detox and he did improve. It was a long time ago, that I watched the video...I graduated in 2004. I did a paper on Wakefield....his report was on children who developed severe diarrhea—bowel syndrome— after the MMR. The parents pleaded for him to help them. Their children were healthy and happy prior to the shot.
They used to separate those vaccines (until the Autism spike). When they group them, the baby has all these unnatural elements injected all at once to deal with. .....It is cheaper for companies to group them and saves doctors visits...it is not better for the children—THEY KNOW THAT!...it is better for PROFITS.
Boys are more susceptible to mercury poisoning....that mercury goes right to the brain and kills the neurons.....eats them right up....and male hormones speed up the process.
I think the ratio is 3:1 with boys getting Autism more frequently. Mercury poisoning symptoms are identical to the symptoms of Autism. I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. I studied both symptoms. They have lots of information on Mercury poisoning from studies where seafood was contaminated.
Once government started mandating HEP B shots for one day olds...I know that they care NOTHING for the health of babies. NOTHING. If they are damaged, then they really make tons of money off of the children. It is sickening how trusting parents are of GOVERNMENT. Also watched Ben Stein’s movie on the lack of debate on un-PC issues in science...and the destruction of any scientists in Universities that DARED to question Darwin. Bottom line - how many children died as a DIRECT result of not being immunized directly in relation to parents being "deceived" by this possibly debunked "study"?
And what was the death rate for children who WERE immunized?
If a child dies of measles, haemophilus Influenzae B (HIB), diptheria, tetanus, polio or rubella, it’s highly likely to be a death that could have been prevented by vaccination. I’m old enough to have started in medicine before the HIB vaccine, and I saw some young children die of HIB meningitis, and a few almost die from epiglottitis (almost always due to HIB).
It’s sad that so much credence was given in the first place to a study that involved a grand total of 12 children. Now that it has been proven that Wakefield had a financial motive and that he lied in his Lancet article, it is sadder that some folks still support the fraud.
I appreciate your opinion. I would think that your frequenting this site would intimate that you know that institutions have a agenda, even the BMJ. I assure you they are wrong. Sorry that I’m a uneducated American. I’ve seen this and am seeing it first-hand.
All of the organizations and books written about this subject were dreamed up? These people didn’t have anything better to do? Or were they just trying to sell something?

If thimerosal hasn't been used in vaccines for 10 years, and you think thimerosal causes autism, shouldn't autism rates have dropped dramatically in the last 8-10 years?
I'm sure having an autistic child is very painful, and you are looking for an answer why, but it wasn't vaccines. By vilifying vaccines you are causing other parents and children to suffer because they aren't getting vaccinated, and they are getting sick.

There’s no more Mercury in vaccines, other than in tetanus and some rare ones that you can safely skip. So why are the autism rates still increasing or at least not decreasing?
The truth is that if wasn’t for the fraudulent study of 12 kids, you would not blame mercury. Why the h*ll people chose to take seriously a 12 people study is beyond me anyway, even if fraud was not involved.
As I’ve stated, from what I’ve read, the vaccines that have thimersol are still being used. What you don’t seem to be accepting is that I’ve seen first-hand a child be de-toxed and become normal. Seeing this kid first hand I would’ve said curing him was impossible. If the steps they took to detox him were to remove mercury and he then became normal then there’s mercury, or something else, I guess.
I’me not trying to start a argument. It’s a anecdote to you. To me it’s proof.
I’ll tell my kid, that’s not quite normal, your opinion. When you read up on the subject come back.
