U.S. customs officials said on Wednesday they had found a beetle considered one of the world's most dangerous agricultural pests in a shipment of rice arriving at Los Angeles International Airport. Agricultural specialists with U.S. Customs and Border Protection found an adult khapra beetle, eight larvae and a shed skin in a shipment of Indian rice from Saudi Arabia ...
Earlier this year, border protection officials in Detroit found a khapra beetle in a shipment of tile from China.

There is a movie here. I can see the scene where Janet Napolitano opens a door at LAX and all one sees is a writhing mass of beetles on the floor accompanied by eating sounds and screams. With today's computerized special effects one could see her face dissolve. We need a good comedy this year.

Well, they import sand from us don’t they?
Is ‘Indian rice’ PC? or shouldn’t it be Native-American rice?
I can’t keep the PC rules straight anymore.

Is Indian rice PC? or shouldnt it be Native-American rice? I think it's rice from India. India Indians were called Indians before American Indians were called Indians.

Probably not that much, really. They fly Chilean grapes into the west coast, just had some yesterday. They cost right under two bucks more for a 5 pound container from Costco as did the grapes we had been getting from Delano, California up until three weeks ago. I commented to the wife yesterday, it seems like it should cost more to air freight grapes, now rice...amazing.

Kudzu too, but we brought that over all by ourselves. Not so long ago, it was a southern problem. I have it on the west side of my house here in central Illinois. Relentlessly creeping northward.

I think it's rice from India. India Indians were called Indians before American Indians were called Indians. Further classified and identified as "dot heads" and "feathers".
