The Rising Sea Dragon in Asia ^ | January 5, 2011 | Jeff Head

Posted on 01/05/2011 9:18:50 AM PST by Jeff Head

As I reported over the weekend, the Chinese have rolled out their 1st Stealth Fighter Prototype, the J-20...several years early and conducted taxi tests. They may conduct the first flight this week.

This story is now being picked up by Aviation Week, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, BBC, Google, Yahoo, etc.

Anybody know what happened to Boeing’s stealth prototype, the YF-23? It almost looks like the same airframe with different engine nozzles.

Looks a lot like an F-22. Wonder if it is part of the deal to underwrite our debt.

Just a comment, the in the air “photos” are artist’s renderings, the actual physical aircraft has not yet flown.

I agree it looks very familiar. Just shows how good the Chinese espionage program is working in this country.

They may be on to something. The radar cross section of a plane made of toxic drywall would be quite low.

” agree it looks very familiar. Just shows how good the Chinese espionage program is working in this country.”

Maybe so. But form also follows function.

Also, it’s not like there are not photographs of the F22 from every angle in the public domain, and we all know the F22 works.

So, if I was in the clone business, the first thing I would do is get all the photos and start with a plane that looks like a plane I know works, even if I didn’t know why it worked.

It was Northrop’s prototype. The airframe is in the Air Force Museum at WPAFB in Dayton, OH. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find the seemingly endless Chinese assaults on our defense computer network yielded some documentation on the -22 and -23.

The only thing they’ve cloned is Clint Eastwood’s MiG-31 Firefox.

let’s see...boeing spends hundreds of millions, if not billions, on the design and development of an aircraft the US military did not want. Are they, as a corporation, supposed to just eat the billions of dollars they spent??? If the US did not purchase proprietary rights to this design, what is boeing to do? I know what I would do. I would sell it to the highest bidder. If the US did not want this technology out there, they should have bought and paid for it...but instead we are buying union votes with the trillions spent by the libs...priorities baby, priorities....

Not even close.

Every credible source I've looked at who've analyzed the pics of this plane say that it only 'looks' like a stealth fighter, but that several design features, including the jet nozzles, forward and rear air foils, and intakes would never pass the 'stealth test'.

Personally, IMO, the fact that they detected this plane and were able to photograph it during trails, means their 'stealth' failed.

Unfortunately for the PLAAF, the RCS goes way up when you use lead based paint.

Understood...in the body of my thread I indicated that the first flight may occur as early as this week. Thanks.

Front end looks like an F-22, middle sections look like the YF-23, and the tail portion looks more like the new Russian T-50 stealth fighter (which flew last year, they have two prototypes).

I never said anyone didn't see it or post about it before I dod CC. I simply said that I reported it over the weekend which is true...I did. So your BS claim does not hold, except for an apparent assertion you somehow want to project on to me.

Sorry you felt a need to, sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. Fact is, on January 2nd I put it up on my site and here in my 2011 update to my Rising Sea Dragon Page.

I believe the photos first started showing up on the net the week after Christmas, or maybe just beofre.

No, these are our planes, we outsourced the production to China because it saved 2%.

What espionage? We know Clinton and crew made deals back the 90’s with them.
