An 8-8 record, the Raiders' best mark since 2002, was not good enough for owner Al Davis, as he informed Tom Cable on Tuesday night that the team will not pick up the option in the head coach's contract.
Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson will become the head coach, a source close to Jackson said. Raiders senior executive John Herrera, however, there was no second announcement coming.

The Raiders swept all their games in the division. First time since 1970 that a team that won all their divisional games missed the playoffs.
I understand he was fired because the team remained undisci-plined.

A couple of years ago.. the Raiders were the WORST NFL team since the expansion Bucs... Two years later, Cable has turned them into a feared team NO ONE wants to play.
If not for the STUPID draft picks that Davis forced... they might well be in the playoffs THIS year..
