Cheney Back in Public, Thinner, With Heart Pump
*snip*
The LVAD is implanted next to the heart to help its main pumping chamber, the left ventricle, pump blood through the body. Such devices are used mainly for short periods, to buy potential transplant candidates time as they await a donor organ.
Cardiologists said that in Cheney's case, the pump is likely a "bridge" that will keep him alive until he can receive a heart transplant. Many cardiac experts said at the time of his surgery that Cheney may be only one step away from a transplant but could find himself on a wait list for "months or years."

"Except for the occasional heart attack, I never felt better."
--Vice President Dick Cheney
Love that pic..he is soooo cool!
And what a master he was in his debates, he owned the stage at all times.
Thanks for the sad ping...prayers up for a great Vice President.
that post was pulled....
Yessir.
he’s done a helluva lot on a bad heart
takes big balls for that
“Dick Cheney is going to be O.K. He and I both grew up drinking water out of the North Platte. I was born and raised in Douglas Wyoming, Dick grew up in Casper, and anyone who can live through those winters and the wind can surly overcome a little heart problem. Dick I expect to see you out whipping a tricorathodes (sp) this spring.”
My Mom who is not much of a western storyteller, nevertheless claims that Casper is the only place that uses a chainsaw for the airport windsock (we lived there for a short time-probably not short enough for her. My Dad grew up in Cowley, near the Montana border-same wind).
God bless you, Mr Vice President. You sir, were the better part of the Bush/Cheney ticket.
Put a picture of Biden next to him. COmpare and contrast.
Give him Pelosi’s heart. She’s not using it.
I saw the blonde woman Sawyer on the Obama news channel briefly last night speak of this. She said Cheney’s family will not comment and seemed ticked off and reported it with glee and did not wish him well.
“... those transplants can take years to get thru the list...”
For the average person it does. Not for the elite. I hope he gets better and does well.
Not to mention that he and Lynn gave away an enormous amount of their personal fortune (I think it was about 70% of their income in a year when they did very well) and virtually funded a large medical facility at GWU
May God bless one of the “good guys”. One of my heroes.
Prayers up for VP Cheney.
The poor guy needs a zipper installed they are in his chest so much!
MSNBC Host: We Ought to Rip Out Cheneys Heart & Kick It Around (Audio)

ED SCHULTZ (01:59): I just want all of you to know that I get my entertainment through NewsBusters. (laughs, then in mincing voice)
How dare [we] Democrats make fun of Dick Cheneys heart problems and turn it into a political football. (back to normal voice, to the extent possible) I can just hear some little weasel whos writing that at NewsBusters. Youre my entertainment.
Bozell, Bozell and his bozo crew. Youre damn right, Dick Cheneys hearts a political football. We ought to rip it out and kick it around and stuff it back in him. Im glad he didnt tip over. He is the new poster child for health care in this country.
Stunning, isn’t it?
One of the most reliable and relentless defenders
of our safety, and borne out by the fact that there
were NO further attacks here after 9/11 (thank God),
and he gets nothing but revilement and disdain from
the lamestream press idiots.
What an evil demon.
From everything I’ve ever heard, Transplant Registries are very strict, and elites are not bumped to the top. If he were the sitting VP, there might have been an exception, but I doubt that would happen now.
