On his MSNBC show this evening, Ed Schultz asserted that corporations donate 1000 times more money to political campaigns than unions do. Or as Ed said, in his inimitably muddled manner,: "unions contribute 1/10th of 1% of their money that corporations put into campaigns. Now think about that: 1/10th of 1%. You got the corporate money over here you've got the organized labor money over here."
How off is Ed? The National Review's Rich Lowry has documented that in the last election cycle, three unions alone kicked in $170 million to Dem coffers. So corporations would have had to contribute . . . $170 BILLION to match Ed's alleged 1000:1 pace just for those contributions, ignoring the donations that all other unions made!

I know, I know: why bother watching this guy? But there is a certain train-wreck entertainment value. Ping to Today show list.
Before this election, my congressman had raised a total of about $4 million dollars in his entire 16 year career.
This year, between the GOP and his own fundraising he raised almost $4 million dollars and still defeated the democrat who had nearly twice as much money that was primarily union money.
Even if what this dammed idiot said were true, virtually ALL money contributed by unions go to Democrats. Not all corporate money goes to Republicans, especially in recent years.
Has he ever mentioned the name George Soros? I tend to doubt it.
Could you imagine the hell that would be raised if there were some shady foreign billionaire like Soros giving money like that to Republicans?
If an alien landed here from Mars and turned on a TV or picked up a newspaper, they would think the only big political donor would be the US Chamber of Commerce.
Ed is using liberal feel-good math. It doesn’t have to be correct.
Liberals know they lie. they also don’t care. The idea is to get the message out to the public. Once there, it is overwhelmed with other liberals agreeing with it. If “so many” people agree, how can it be wrong? Unless, of course, it’s a conservative idea, and then it’s just spin and/or propaganda.
and it’s not only the union $$$. It’s the workers at the phone banks, going thru the ‘hoods, working at the polls and driving voters to the polls. What unions put into elections is immeasurable. The GOP can raise big $$$, but can’t match the unions with workforce. Employers can’t have the employees do anything without serious legal ramifications.
We are in an Emergency Crisis. An emergency Spending Cut is needed to save the Republic. Any more Borrowing will destroy us. The only way to handle the emergency is spending cuts and no more borrowing.
Hey Ed! How’s the dog?
LLS
Excellent points about the manpower in addition to dollars that the unions bring to Democrats.
MSNBC is to the truth as Deacula is to sunlight.
So Shultz how come I ONLY see pro-democrat commercials at election time paid for by union-funded groups acting under assumed names? I’ve never seen a commercial paid for by some “hidden” corporation.
Somebody has to so we know how unhinged these moon bats are getting.
Thanks.
