Michigan has fired football coach Rich Rodriguez after his third season ended with a school-record 38-point loss in the Gator Bowl, Fox 2 TV in Detroit is reporting. The report comes after Rodriguez met with athletic director Dave Brandon earlier Tuesday. Members of the football team are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, according to another report out of Ann Arbor. Michigan's Gator Bowl loss to Mississippi State knocked Rodriguez's overall record to 15-22 with college football's winningest program. Michigan will owe the coach $2.5 million to buy out the final three years of his contract.

The new guy, Dave Brandon is responsible for running Dominos Pizza into the ground. You've all seen the apology commercials and the "we don't use sythetic ingredients" commercials since they brought in a guy to turn it around.
I'll agree with you on that. And with the addition of Alabama next year, there will finally be a new top dog that will able to compete in any bowl game they get invited to.
I don't know what happened to Michigan but it's not the cold so it has to be the coaching. As for MSU, holy cow, did they bottom out! Hopefully their first winning season in many, many years will now enable them to start recruiting great players......we'll see.
This from someone who has obviously never been to Oxford, MS.
Spoken like a true Big Ten fan.
In any event, all I can say is that it couldn’t happen to a better guy. /s
I’d say he should go back home but he’s not welcome.
We are. I find myself having a lot to talk about with Ohio State fans.
Rodriguez built his resume on Pat White’s talent. For years I’ve heard UM fans say “well he needs to recruit players to his system”. Even they got tired of it.
First I am so glad that my little ones are up stairs. That is seriously NSFW. I’m also glad they are upstairs so they don’t hear me laughing so hard.
Plus, there have been 11 teams in the Big Ten so your math is off.
Boise State's QB is from a very small town in central Washington.
Eugene, OR does not get very cold in the winter.
If you kept up with the news, you'd know the new guy has turned it around.
There has been no firing............yet.
It may still happen, but Brandon and Rodriguez met for four hours today, and will meet again tomorrow.
Been a lot of turning over in that grave recently.
I thought there was and if memory is correct, ESPN reported on it?
Right this instant, ESPN.com is saying “still no decision”. I just looked.
Thank-you for the posting back. This speculation stuff does not surprise me, since now, other then for the BCS Bowl Championship, the college football season is pretty much done.
Y’got that right, dfwgator!
I wonder if Michigan would consider Steve Mariucci?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
He and Tom Izzo (MSU men’s bb coach)are from the UP, were I was born. Perhaps a better fit than RichRod.
commercials since they brought in a guy to turn it around. If you kept up with the news, you'd know the new guy has turned it around.
If you would read my post, I never wrote anything regarding the current state. Brandon became Athletic Director in January, 2010.
