Michigan has fired football coach Rich Rodriguez after his third season ended with a school-record 38-point loss in the Gator Bowl, Fox 2 TV in Detroit is reporting. The report comes after Rodriguez met with athletic director Dave Brandon earlier Tuesday. Members of the football team are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, according to another report out of Ann Arbor. Michigan's Gator Bowl loss to Mississippi State knocked Rodriguez's overall record to 15-22 with college football's winningest program. Michigan will owe the coach $2.5 million to buy out the final three years of his contract.

The problem with the Big 10, is that for more than 20 years, it has really been the Big TWO and the Little EIGHT, whereas the SEC has a far more competitive environment. When Auburn wins the BCS title next week, it will be FIVE consecutive years of SEC schols winning, but more importantly, FIVE DIFFERENT schools.....Next year ASburn may well be only the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC west..
Maybe they should bring back "College Bowl".
Uhh, that's four different schools, we won it twice.
When I look back, no wonder UConn was able to “kick” WVU in the butt during the season which started the process in motion to why it ended up in a BCS bowl.
"A Michigan Man will coach Michigan."
Les Miles, anyone?
besides, the South has got nothing on Michigan when it comes to rowdy girls...
Well NOW you understand how I felt both Sunday and yesterday over Randy Edsall leaving UConn, which was SURPRISED.
I’m an SEC fan but I’ll admit it’s hard not to root for a duck. There used to be a saying: “God love a duck.”
I am Maize and Blue beyond all reason and I knew RichRod was not and would never be a Michigan Man from day one.
I just came upon this and it does list Paul Pasqualoni in one of the list of possible replacements. It also includes former Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini.
I wonder if Michigan would consider Steve Mariucci?
Whoever's been running their athletic dept.(considering their football and basketball programs stinking it up the last 10 years)must be a women's studies grad.
That’s what I hear. I’m a Hawkeye forever, but a Big 10 (Big 12?) supporter thru and thru.
I wish someone would hire Mike Leach. He’s from the old time “discipline” school. He doesn’t care if his players like him. They just have to respect him. And everytime I see Craig “I got paid to play with Dickerson” James on T.V. I get pissed. Apparently his son just ain’t that good. He didn’t set the world on fire under Tubby.
I also wonder how much money Mich would spend to get Gus Malzahn. It’ll take a lot.
Less Miles is not liked in Louisianna. I think he’d take the job if offered.
BTW, thanks for noting my obvious mistake earlier..I know Gators won it twice...and if we go back to 2003, it'll be 6 of the last 8 for the SEC..
I think Michigan needs a more defensive-minded coach.
Depends on which decades you look at. This has not been the case for many years.

The new guy, Dave Brandon is responsible for running Dominos Pizza into the ground. You've all seen the apology commercials and the "we don't use sythetic ingredients" commercials since they brought in a guy to turn it around.
