Its been a tough couple of weeks for the gay-loathing social conservative. First they have CPAC laying the law down, calling a boycotts bluff by letting GOProud remain at the event and now this.
The darling of many on the right and a far chunk of the tea party movement has caused a stir by a simple re-Tweet on her Twitter account. (Re-Tweet for those not Twitter au fait, means forwarding a Tweet by someone else to all your followers.) Palin re-Tweeted a comment from Tammy Bruce about DADT and the idea put forward by some to re-instate the policy via the new Congress.
As CNN explains in its Ticker section, the source of kerfuffle is minor at first glance. .
"But this hypocrisy is just truly too much. Enuf alreadythe more someone complains about the homos the more we should look under their bed, Bruces original tweet read that was subsequently relayed by Palin.
This should surprise very few who know that Palin and Tammy Bruce know each other. Palin has never shown any signs of being part of the gay loathing contingent, but there may have been those of that contingent who assumed she was one of them.
Ben Smith opines that this a sign that Palin is part of the post-social issue conservative Republicans.
More broadly, though, she seems roughly representative of a Republican Party that isn't particularly interested in fighting the old culture wars around sex, drugs, and crime -- abortion is the enduring exception, obviously -- and more interested in fighting the new culture wars around the size and meaning of government.

I found the article very difficult to ‘follow’.
A WHOLE BUNCH OF KERFUFFLE (as used by the author).
The only ‘point’ I could find was that Palin seems to be on the side of having the homosexuality be left to morality and church, and keep it out of politics and the military (as far as it being made an issue by EITHER side).
I agree with that concept.
If you look hard enough, I’m sure there is video or audio of Sarah stating that she opposes the repeal of DADT.
We need to find that statement and put the Palin-Gays in the military issue to rest.
IN february, she said she didn’t think DADT should be repealed “at this time”.
piss, You really need to come up with something better. All your rants sound the same. And as someone else said, why not educate us in who you support or why isntead of beating your dead horse over and over again.
yes, because at ‘this time’ there are more important issues, she didnt say ‘at this time, no, but down the road we can repeal it’
folks need to stop reading into what other say.
whoops! Instead replacing isntead.
Gotcha. I’m amazed I hadn’t seen that before. Or maybe I did and I ignored it. Hard to say. I really don’t understand why people do that, but the internet takes all kinds.
Is pissant getting paid for his services? If so, think I could get a job like that? I could use some spending money. This economy is killing my entertainment budget.
It occurs to me that I might be the only person left who hasn’t read Sarah Palin’s twitter posts.
Fifty years ago, atheists, humanists and so-called “progressives” - some of whom considered themselves religious but not necessarily Conservative - set the tone in education, initially, that having an electoral majority did not give that majority the right to impose a particular moral stance - particularly on issues of morals, God or sex - in PUBLIC education.
The general idea was that PUBLIC education - the public education institution - should be an agnostic in those areas - not a proponent or an opponent of one side or the other; mute more often than not.
But, we all know what happened.
Instead of insuring that PUBLIC education became an agnostic on such issues, it simply turned itself over 180 degrees and became a very active advocate for secular humanists and progressives - on God, morals and sex - in PUBLIC education; disenfranchising the rights of devoted religious believers to NOT have their moral values trashed in their own childrens PUBLIC education.
The Conservative position on this issue should be to oppose the insertion of the secular humanist and progressive agendas in public education, on matters of morals God and sex, not to again turn over the PUBLIC education institutions 180 degrees, in those areas, and re-impose a “social Conservative” agenda on them, BUT, instead, to demand the SMALL GOVERNMENT, LIMITED GOVERNMENT agnosticism that PUBLIC education should have on such topics, which means NO ONE’S social agenda on those topics should be inserted into the curriculum (in PUBLIC schools).
The easier way to say this is that we simply need to get PUBLIC education OUT OF the SOCIAL AGENDA business altogether, in matters of morals, God and sex. It’s none of their damn business. We are looking for them to train our children in very specific academic ways. We are not looking for them to interfere in the moral tone we set for our children in the home, the family and from our religious affiliations. They need to stay out of this stuff, altogether.
TOLERANCE is not about changing your values or ACCEPTING the values of anyone else. TOLERANCE is about the right to NOT AGREE, and most of what it requires is to conduct ourselves with civil respect for that right; AND NO MORE.

I’m not sure it is germane. She believes homosexuality is a choice and is against homosexual marriages. That lines up with what I believe. I’m not sure how she would approach DADT, but given her stance, I’m guessing she would manage it.

You are correct;

I don’t get her tweets either. Onyx, 2ndDiv and VARidgerunner pretty much keep me in the know on the Palin front.
Sarah Palin is very compassionate, and unlike what Pisser believes they(gays) are human beings.
Pisser is a laughing stock at FR,he follows Palin at all hours of the day and night, similar to a Dog in a mentally deranged state of heat. He posts so many negative things about
Palin, it goes beyond obsession, he needs help. call Dr.Phil 911 Pisser.
Agree with you on both Romney and Huckabee.
We need someone that keeps focusing on the ideals that are America: freedom means small government, freedom means the pursuit of our dreams without ridiculous micromanaging of our lives by the government.

I trust that she is who I think she is; she is NOT a non-conservative poseur. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs a good headshrinker.
I honestly do not care who twittered what, I will not stop seeing homosexuality as anything but an abhorant behavior and sin.

Let’s not get all twee-twee’d up about this.
As I've posted from time to time, we can all be 100% certain of the following:
1. Palin is pro-2nd Amendment.
2. Palin is pro-life.
3. Palin is pro-military.
4. Palin is pro-America.
3. Palin is pro-Constitution.
I don't think Sarah Palin is perfect, and I would be thrilled to find someone electable who is even better than her. However, when I look at Romney, Huckabee, Gingrich, and some of the other names in the news, I find it hard to imagine someone who would be both better than Governor Palin and more electable. I liked Fred Thompson, but his campaigning put me to sleep. I like DeMint, but he says he's not running. I like Palin, and I think it's pretty obvious that she's going to run if no one better runs. I worry a lot that if conservatives split our vote, the media will choose for us, and they'll choose Mitt Romney.
I'm a big supporter of homesexuality. I also support hotelsexuality under the right circumstances. Not so sure about holysexuality, though.
But if Palin issues a "bootom call" on any of them, I'm sure it will be done with the utmost taste and discretion.

In addition, she has clearly stated that she believes homosexuality is a CHOICE and that Marriage is between a man and a woman. Given that she thinks it is a choice, she can not defend or advocate special treatment.
Tweeting about U.S. Navy Captain Owen Honors, who was temporarily relieved of his post yesterday after filming a series of explicit, gay-themed videos involving cross-dressing, gay conservative pundit Tammy Bruce wrote, "But this hypocrisy is just truly too much. Enuf already--the more someone complains about the homos the more we should look under their bed." (A preceding tweet read, "and you may have noticed I was being quiet about DADT because that's not our most pressing issue...") Sarah Palin, who has kept uncharacteristically quiet on "don't ask, don't tell" and gay issues, promptly re-tweeted it. Bruce's tweet was intended to condemn homophobia, express vague support for the "don't ask, don't tell" repeal, and deride Republicans who are still carrying on about it, presumably. Bruce believes Palin's re-tweet was intended to do the same, although Palin is notoriously fast and loose with the tweeting. "[Palin's] a decent woman & friend to the community," Bruce wrote, following the re-tweet. "I think we homos may have to get an additional honorary disco ball--unless @SarahPalinUSA & @AnnCoulter are willing to fight over it." Later, the pundit tweeted a photo of an adorable teddy bear wearing an "I <3 Homos" T-shirt. Palin has yet to re-tweet that, but perhaps she's on her way.
