Majority of RNC against Michael Steele
Politico ^ | 1/3/11 | ALEXANDER BURNS & JONATHAN MARTIN

Posted on 01/03/2011 8:03:26 AM PST by RatherBiased.com

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele faces an all-but-impossible path to reelection this month, as a majority of the RNC’s 168 members indicate that they will not support the controversial chairman for another term.

A weeklong canvass of the party’s governing board by POLITICO revealed 88 members who have decided not to vote for Steele, either opting to support one of his opponents or simply ruling out Steele as a choice in the race.

Fifty-five members, some of whom have endorsed one of Steele’s challengers, have signaled that they will not support the chairman under any circumstances. An additional 33 pledged their support elsewhere.

Just as telling, not a single member of the committee said that Steele was their second choice in the race – a grave indicator in a contest likely to be decided in multiple ballots.

Further, whip counts kept by several of the chairman's opponents suggest the Anybody-but-Steele bloc could be even larger, including as many as 90 to 100 members.

Where is Politico’s story on Obama and soaring gas prices?

I smell Axelrod and the media in his pocket trying to divide and conquer.

Articles about Romney and Steele emphasizing GOP in-fighting and the MSM getting ready with talking points of a witch hunt of Obama administration’s investigations.

The bad, bad wolf republicans are just picking on poor Obama when he said from Hawaii (AFTER HE WENT TO CHURCH) did you hear he went to church?) that he is willing to work with anyone with ideas.

ATTENTION MSM: Report on the soaring gas prices, the horrific economy, ALL OF Obama’s sealed records;college, birth, passports. Tell us first who in the hell Obama is and do your jobs! As the poor, Obama; all who disagree with him, are racists talking points of old, won’t work. America has learned your Alinsky 101 tactics.

Do we know who the other candidates are? What is their background? We sure don’t need RINO leadership!

Micheal Steele sucks, but in our frenzy to get rid of him let’s not end up with someone even worse.

“Liberty-hating RINO” is a bit over the top...

Moderate, yes...

RINO, maybe...

Not willing to take the fight to the Dems, for whatever reason, certainly...

But at the end of the day, I think he appreciates his liberty, and I think he’s an American.

And no, I’m not a Steele supporter. I think he did a lousy job and should be replaced poste haste. He wasn’t the right man for the job at all.

I would love to see Sarah Palin there; I would love to see Lt. Col Alan West there (but even more so in COngress now).

I think we do ourselves a disservice by making enemies out of folks who aren’t enemies.

We need a street fighter in that position, not a politician, and I think he’s basically a politician at the end of the day.

IMHO

Right! Steele was a huge mistake. But I really don’t see anyone else that is better running. As was said, we need someone like Palin, etc. that won’t run & hide when conservatives run against RINOs.

Steele himself is a RINO hence his political support for ‘em. What don’t these fools get about how to win elections? You could pull a truck driver off of I-5 in Socal & get a FAR better guy to run the party than any of the hacks currently in the race.

Well darn. Either Fox reported it wrong or I heard it wrong, but it seems that Steele has NOT resigned.
