China's new "aircraft carrier killer" ballistic missile can cover 1,243 miles, according to The Chosun Ilbo.

To show the distance it could cover, we added the approximate radius of China to the distance the missile could travel. As you can see, China now wields formidable power in the Indian Ocean and the East Pacific.

Amazing that it’s a ballistic missile. One would think that, at that range, a minor course correction would be an effective countermeasure.

I guess those Mongolians had better give up plans for hosting an aircraft carrier! :)

They should call it the Clintoon Missile. Built with information supplied by the Clintons for campaign bucks.

It is believed to be terminally guided, either by radar or IR or both. I have no idea how maneuveurable it is, how many lateral g’s it can pull, but probably a lot more than an aircraft carrier. It might be relatively easy to jam or decoy, especially with expendable decoys, perhaps launched from ships at some distance.

(The Germans had any anti-ship missile, a glider actually, launched from a JU-88. The missile had a flare in the tail and gunner guided it using an FM link, like a 1990’s vintage radio controlled model. They were used successfully a couple of times during the invasion of Sicily. The Allies learned how to jam them pretty quickly and the gunner had to maintain line of sight to the target throughout the engagement. Considering the Allied edge in air supremacy, deploying it was probably a lot more likely to cost the Germans a bomber than it was to cost the Allies a ship.)

Unless, of course, they are fired off of one of the countless COSCO container ships?

Maneuverable reentry vehicle warheads. The ballistic missile just gets it over the general location of the carrier group then terminal guidance is used from a synthetic aperture radar satellite to "see" the carrier and aim for it.

Clinton's Missile;
Clinton's Thermonuclear weapon;
Clinton's Neutron Bomb;
Clinton's Naval Tactics and Operation (specifically flight op);
Clinton's Submarine Propeller Design;

I'm sure there is more on this list.

I'll add these:
Clinton's Elimination of the US Tactical Nuclear Arsenal...
Clinton's Removal of the US Strategic Missile Guidance Cards...
Clinton's Re-targeting of the US Strategic Missiles to no specified targets...

Not operational, not deployable — just in the pre-testing stages sounds like from other stories.

And 15 years ago we were saying NORK and Iran were nothing to worry about because they wouldn’t have the bomb for many years. “Many years” do have a nasty tendency of just slipping by, however, and the distant future always becomes today at some point.

You raise a question that I’ve wondered about — what are the Chinese, the Russians, etc. doing to find ways to jam or even hijack our drones? No matter how clever we are, I can’t imagine that smart minds aren’t working on ways to break into the signals of RP vehicles being controlled from the other side of the world.
