Big Nannies Of The Year(Huckabee is top GOP nanny stater)
Human Events ^ | 12/29/2010 | MIchelle Malkin

Posted on 12/29/2010 8:43:21 AM PST by Brices Crossroads

It was a nefarious year for nettlesome nosy-bodies employed by the Nanny State. Here are the top power-grabbers who just can't leave us alone:

First lady Michelle Obama and Republican Mike Huckabee.

......

Next came Mrs. O's push for the $5 billion expansion of federal child nutrition programs. As I first reported in February 2010, the legislation was a pet project of the Service Employees International Union, which seeks to swell the ranks of dawn-to-dusk year-round public school food service workers who organize under the progressive activist slogan "serving justice, and serving lunch." In addition to school breakfast and lunch, the kiddie food patrol is now pushing subsidized dinner plans and summer food service to create a "stronger nutrition safety net."

Nanny State Republican Mike Huckabee, who used his bully pulpit position as Arkansas governor to campaign for Big Government-endorsed "healthier living" in public schools and private life, naturally sided with Mrs. Obama -- and took a swipe at Sarah Palin last week for criticizing the White House usurpation of parental responsibility and rights. Huckabee scoffed at the idea that the feds are "trying to force the government's desires on people." But school bake sales are already under siege, and Mrs. Obama's childhood obesity task force has already called for new and dramatic controls on the marketing of unhealthy foods. Did Huckabee miss (or does he agree with) Mrs. Obama's officious rallying cry on child nutrition: "We can't just leave it up to parents"?

God save us from more busybody bipartisanship in 2011.

You and Malkin have nailed it, BC. Thanks. Huck the Schmuck is just a nanny-stater disguised as a conservative. Got it.

Huck will weigh over 300lbs again by the end of 2011.

That is my prediction as he devolves further and further into the revival shyster preacher character that his inner child exudes.

He’s such a schmuck it’s hard to listen to him preach for more than 30 seconds at a time.

Guys like him make it impossible for fiscally conservative yet socially agnostic Republicans and tea party types to actually listen to Fox News.

How this jerk could ever be on the POTUS radar screen is beyond me.

He’s nothing more than a LIndsay Graham twin with a guitar.

CNN was pimping this guy as winner of yet another preferred Repub candidate poll just an hour ago.

I’m convinced the lamestreamers pimp this guy infinitely to keep real conservatives out of real consideration....and did so hyper-infinitely (if that’s possible) late Summer 08 to get Romney de-considered.

It works with the squishy center, which sadly could be enough.

If he WAS nominee in 08 of course they would have just as fiercely undone him, done the 180.

Huckaphony, Romney, Gingrich and Palin have no business running for the nomination in 2012. We don’t ne re-treads, RINO’s, and proven losers. We need new conservative blood. We need a new Reagan. Where is that person?

How in the hell can you include Palin on that list?

She has resurrected the Republican party and is the only reason McLame got the votes he did. You cannot blame her for his failure.

You want a new Reagan? Open your freakin' eyes...she's wearing high heels and lipstick and she will be the next President.

Open your eyes. She’s a reality TV star. Right up there with the Kardashians and the Jersey Shore idiots. In 2012 she’ll be hosting a talk show, not getting inaugurated.

Dude, you ARE an astronaut!

Or a space cadet.

I do have to give you credit though... you have an uncanny ability to parrot the false mainstream narrative being spoon fed to idiots and sheep. Congratulations.

I wonder which you are?

We need a new Reagan. Where is that person? Hopefully they are just biding their time to stay out of the left wing media’s crosshairs until it is time to really start campaigning.

Obama, Reid and Pelosi have been destroying the country for two years.

A person similar to Reagan acts during such a time to fight the destruction.

A person similar to Reagan doesn't hide from the media's crosshairs.

Isn't somebody who is nonexistent during a crisis, this so called New Reagan of yours, who has yet to emerge, the antithesis of what a New Reagan should be?

You want a new Reagan? Try this...

Michael Reagan, guardian of The Legacy:

“Welcome Back, Dad!”

“I’ve been trying to convince my fellow conservatives that they have been wasting their time in a fruitless quest for a new Ronald Reagan to emerge and lead our party and our nation. I insisted that we’d never see his like again because he was one of a kind.

I was wrong!

Wednesday night I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he’s a she.

And what a she!

In one blockbuster of a speech, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resurrected my Dad’s indomitable spirit and sent it soaring above the convention center, shooting shock waves through the cynical media’s assigned spaces and electrifying the huge audience with the kind of inspiring rhetoric we haven’t heard since my Dad left the scene.

This was Ronald Reagan at his best — the same Ronald Reagan who made the address known now solely as “The Speech,” which during the Goldwater campaign set the tone and the agenda for the rebirth of the traditional conservative movement that later sent him to the White House for eight years and revived the moribund GOP.

Last night was an extraordinary event. Widely seen beforehand as a make-or-break effort — either an opportunity for Sarah Palin to show that she was the happy warrior that John McCain assured us she was

(snip)

Like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin is one of us. She knows how most of us live because that’s the way she lives. She shares our homespun values and our beliefs, and she glories in her status as a small-town woman who put her shoulder to the wheel and made life better for her neighbors.

Her astonishing rise up from the grass-roots, her total lack of self-importance, and her ordinary American values and modest lifestyle reveal her to be the kind of hard-working, optimistic, ordinary American who made this country the greatest, most powerful nation on the face of the earth.

As hard as you might try, you won’t find that kind of plain-spoken, down-to-earth, self-reliant American in the upper ranks of the liberal-infested, elitist Democratic Party, or in the Obama campaign.

Sarah Palin didn’t go to Harvard, or fiddle around in urban neighborhood leftist activism while engaging in opportunism within the ranks of one of the nation’s most corrupt political machines, never challenging it and going along to get along, like Barack Obama.

Instead she took on the corrupt establishment in Alaska and beat it, rising to the governorship while bringing reforms to every level of government she served in on her way up the ladder.

Welcome back, Dad, even if you’re wearing a dress and bearing children this time around.”

Right up there with the Kardashians and the Jersey Shore idiots.

Have you even bothered to watch her show? Each episode has a carefully crafted political theme. My guess is that you haven't and are just another deranged PDS'er.

Actually, it will be a really long time before I want to see another person from AR in the WH! The clintoon probably hurt everyone from AR who wants to run for national office anytime soon.

Huckabee is a clown and a pimple on the a$$ of conservatism.

He needs to go away. I appreciate his need to make some sort of living, but enough is enough.

I keep wanting to write Mike and give him this information...
“ You are a small man who was grossly overweight. You, like many who make a change in their lives, try to press that change on everyone else. Do you really think you are that smart all of a sudden? No, you shrunk your brain too and now are a small man.”

How can he stand there next to his very overweight wife and say the things he does? How thoughtless!

I know he has a history with the FReepers, but this is too much to take!

I guess I will never write to him...
