The lame-duck session of the 111th Congress proved one thing beyond a doubt: the Republican Party does not represent the interests of conservatives. Despite the midterm election tidal wave, in which the Republican Party gained 63 House seats (eclipsing its historic1994 success against Clinton), congressional Republicans failed to leverage their victory into political clout and collapsed like a house of cards in the lame-duck session.
The last two weeks ought to have sickened conservatives. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spectacularly failed to hold his caucus together to even delay ratification of the START treaty until the 112th Congress is seated in January. Republican leftists Olympia Snowe and Lisa Murkowski sided with Democrats to end the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, forcing the gay agenda from the streets of San Francisco right into the U.S. Marine Corps. Congressional Republicans agreed to cut FICA taxes for Social Security (which is underfunded already) and expand the Democratic Party's welfare state constituency by extending unemployment benefits -- in exchange for maintaining current tax rates for a paltry two years. The deal will add billions to the deficit. Tea Party darling Scott Brown, mocked by Obama for driving a truck in his insurgent 2009 campaign in which he stole "Ted Kennedy's seat" from the Democrats, voted for Obama's agenda on all of these issues.
Give the Democratic devils their due. They are astute students of Machiavelli.

We either kick out the posers, establishment goons and progressives or the GOP will continue to betray the hard-working American people.
My guess is the establishment will win over in the next couple of years and in 2012 we will see a new principled party that could actually have an impact.
Just how many times do we need to be betrayed before the American people say...enough already?
We could also use someone who will strike fear in the heart of Senate RINOs too. We didn't get Card Check, Cap & Tax and another round of amnesty for illegal aliens because the GOP in the Senate was so effective, IMHO. Dingy Harry couldn't get the votes from his rats. Rats moved to the right to take Congress in 2006 with pro Second Amendent, pro-life and fiscally conservative nominees where needed. They expanded their majority in 2008 with similar nominees, despite Obama who ran a campaign that obscured his past.

You are of course correct. I overstated and perhaps misstated my point. The RNC does serve a valuable purpose.
The rise of internet information and the ability to easily make direct donations to candidates with approved views make their campaigns national in fund raising.
A more correct statement would be that the RNC has lost some and perhaps much of the retail level funding. The grass roots is doing for its’self that which was once delegated to the RNC.
The mechanism allows the individual to directly fund folks but at the same time it's no longer a national campaign.
I think the way to deal with this is to crack down on the Republican label ~ (1) By forcing all candidates in a Republican primary to sign a statement that they will respect the results ~ and, oh, BTW, post a bond against your repudiation of your pledge, and (2) By requiring everybody using the Republican brand to redirect 25% of their individual funding to the RNC campaign committees for use in weak races where advertising may make a difference.
Most private individuals are usually not in a position to be able to identify other races of value ~ which should be a function performed by the RNC campaign committees.
Too often we find insiders trying to manipulate the RNC campaign committees into pre-selecting candidates before a primary. That should get a committee-man tossed out of the party.
We also need to reign in Congressional campaign committee organizations so that you don't have a Chairman, by himself, selecting another Scuzzyfuzzo ~

Don't know which you're talking about, but there are a lot of disgusting libs from here - large urban areas spawn them like roaches.
However, state-wise, we're looking pretty good. The overwhelming win of real conservatives in the Texas legislature this last election might get some unthinkable, good things done this year: voter I.D. law; strong anti-criminal alien laws; repudiation of unconstitutional federal laws, etc.
He was definitely NOT a lib...he was not happy about the RINO comment of finishing up the legislation before the “new Republicans” arrived.
Too bad I missed his name...he entered Congress after the 2004 election, so he is about to start his 4th term, whatever his name is.
I did a quick review of the Texas Congressional Delegation and I’m pretty sure Steyn’s guest was Louie Gohmert.
I found your post astute to that point. I don't think we can do better in Mass than Brown. We would be trading a Rockefeller Repub for a hard leftie.
Can we do better in Maine? I'm inclined to risk it...as a matter of principle. We can't let RINOs get too comfortable, and the Girls have been there long enough.

Just because the US signs on to a treaty doesn't mean the House of Representatives has to pay for it.
Republicans have been telling Obama to go back for some changes. He can go back for some changes now.
So...in your opinion, where do we go from here?
Strawman argument ~ so what. Those may well be the weaker races ~ where we have a challenger going up against a well-entrenched incumbent.
That would be interesting to watch. I have my doubts it would be successful. Obammy would find the money “somewhere.”
The place just isn't America anymore, so either we get rid of it ~ or we do what we can, but first off don't let in any more Stalinists than they already have.
