(NewsCore) - Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has the support of more Republicans around the country than three of his potential 2012 rivals, according to a new CNN poll released Tuesday.
The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll found that 67 percent of self-identified Republicans were either very likely or somewhat likely to support his candidacy in 2012.
That compared with 59 percent for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 54 percent for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and 49 percent for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
It is the second recent poll to show momentum for Huckabee. A Public Policy Polling survey taken just before Christmas showed the former Arkansas governor overtaking Romney in the pivotal state of Florida.

I admire that.
Me too... Just about his only admirable trait...
But he didnt say a peep about the repeal of DADT (either before or after), even though hes commented on just about every other issue. Being pro-life but soft on the radical homosexual agenda just isnt good enough IMO. We need a candidate whos conservative and courageous all the way through.
I wholly agree - I am just making the observation that he is the only one wholly supporting the Christian Right's number one "immovable object." It is of little surprise that they will support the only person who is supporting them.
What is needed is a Reaganite candidate - capable of supporting EVERY "immovable object" of every conservative faction. It is not necessary for anyone to compromise. And BTW, NOBODY wins without the Christians.
The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn.
Cheers!
Somebody please tell this family that stripes are not slimming.
No, Huck's is the Christian Right's (majority) position. And it is also the position which brought the Christian Right over from the Dems (See Reagan, 1980 Repub platform).
The Huckster is a RINO, a younger version of McCain.
Sorry, have to pass on him, can’t vote for him.
Reps have a big 2012 problem, we don’t have a decent canidate to put up against Obama. We best hurry or we’ll be stuck with Obozo for 4 more years
Surely you jest.
No, palin is stone dead wrong.
Huck could NEVER get his amendment passed.
That is not a given, nor do I believe it requires an amendment. But that is immaterial. What matters is that the Christian Right believes it to be their most uncompromisable thing.
By *not* supporting it, one will invariably split the Christians, and thus ruin any chance for a Conservative candidate... 2012, meet 2008.
Two words for Huckabee: HELL NO.
And, sarah does not fully support life?? She walks the walk, more than most.
I think that dog should be terrified.
“They must have polled Bass Guitar players.”
No, Guitards.
Well, one of us is right. I’m betting on me.
Huck is a shyster and there are certain "Christian" groups that fall for a dog-and-pony show from a silver-tongued devil every time.
Listen to yourself. The Christian Right will *NOT* move on Life as a Constitutional issue. You make excuses for your candidate, rather than accept the largest conservative faction's position. Which thing do you feel can't be compromised that I can demand YOU give up?
Can’t we distract him with some fresh popcorned squirrels or something? He needs to be stopped.
Huckleberry Clown is a Bible quoting, silver tongued, bleeding heart liberal. He reminds me of Bill Clinton toting a Bible around every Sunday while people dropped like flies around him.
I held my nose and voted for McCain (because of Palin), if Huckleberry Clown gets the nod, there’s no way I vote for that freak.
Huck would be worse that Mitt because Huck is a pathological liar, whereas Mitt is only seriously weak. But it’s like fighting over being shot or stabbed to death.
Yeah... enough of them to keep Huck in the running all the way to the final pick. Enough of them to lift him out of the cheap seats and keep him front-and-center ALL BY THEMSELVES.
Too bad your candidate can't convince them to vote your way (up to 60M votes)... Oops! Not gonna happen. Your candidate doesn't support LIFE.
