Tea Party activists are now talking openly about backing a Republican primary challenger against Mass. Sen. Scott Brown.
"I think the significance of that is –- I don’t know if he’ll get a primary challenge or survive in 2012 - but that is what every Republican in the Senate and the House up for re-election in 2012 has to be thinking about," said Salon's Steve Kornacki. "It’s going to have that threat hovering over them on every key vote for the next two years."

Agreed. I constantly shake my head at some of the comments made when Brown’s name comes up. These people either don’t know the political reality here in this state or if they even live here, they haven’t for very long.
The western part of the state is very liberal but less populated. The central part of the state is largely conservative with the exception of Worcester. It’s the eastern part of the state that runs the show, which is primarily liberal. Brown was able to win in that part of the state. Nobody else has ever done that.
And the statement that Brown is no better or worse than Snowe and Collins? I see a white jacket with long sleeves in your future. He’s not even close.
Snowe and Collins’ futures are limited. The state is now GOP in all three branches. People finally had enough. If they start dropping tax rates I may even move there.

Jim Antle writes about the growing disaffection here in Massachusetts amongst conservatives with Scott Brown citing an article in the Boston Globe quoting Christen Varley, President of the Greater Boston Tea Party, who has raised the possibility of a GOP primary challenge in 2012. Over the past month, Brown has voted in favor of the tax cut compromise, for the repeal of DADT and for the START Treaty.
Antle nevertheless remains optimistic about Brown’s chances noting that he has time on his side. I can understand the rationale of lighting a fire under Brown’s feet. Nevertheless methinks a primary challenge to Brown is counterproductive. Consider what I wrote in July when conservative disenchantment began to surface:
Now, of course, Brown would have to win the 2012 Massachusetts Republican Primary. It is certainly possible that Tea Party activists could find a viable candidate to challenge Brown in the primary. Yet it could prove to be a poison pill. Unless Brown wins the primary in a landslide (as he did last year), a strong challenge to him could cause the kind of division amongst Republican ranks that might very well lead the people’s seat to fall back into Democratic hands. In this part of the country, those hands have a very tight grip.
Still, given the anti-incumbent sentiment that exists amongst the electorate, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Brown could lose the primary. But unless the person carrying the GOP banner is physically attractive, has beautiful adult daughters and drives a truck, don’t expect another Massachusetts miracle. Bay State Republicans could find a candidate more conservative than Brown, but if that candidate says or does anything that scares the daylights out of voters then it could become Deval Patrick’s seat.
But let me take a leap of faith here. Suppose the GOP primary challenger not only dislodges Brown but somehow beats Patrick (or whoever the Democratic nominee happens to be) in the 2012 senatorial race. Who is to say that new Massachusetts Republican senator won’t be susceptible to the same fallibility and folly?
Massachusetts Republicans and conservative activists should think about that long and hard before they organize an attempt to dislodge Brown.

We thought so, so we re-elected him. It was a big mistake.
I am convinced that a RINO is worse than a Democrat. It’s a debatable issue, but I really believe that a RINO like Specter does more damage to conservatism than a Democrat.
Dump Snowe, Collins for sure. Warn Brown and if he doesn’t shape up, dump him too.

Defeat Brown by all means, but the insidious socialist-in-sheep’s clothing Romney must be stopped. He and his henchmen Rove and Cabbage-Pounder have no place in conservative circles, period.

Brown is still better than a RAT. I'd just spend lots of time thinking this one through.

Why try when we are destined to fail? Very reflective of a RINO "defeatist" attitude. On your knees and beg so you can keep the glass half full - that way and you will never go completely thirsty. Good think our Founding Fathers didn't have that attitude with the British.

I can live with Taxachussetts having two lib senators. At least you know what you’ve got in them.

Which Democrat running for a Senate seat from MA would have voted against the DREAM Act, and done so when it counted? Which one would have voted against Elena Kagan?
DADT got 71 votes in the Senate, it was going to pass regardless of Brown's vote. In September, when it mattered, he voted against it.
Who do you think is going to replace Brown after you primary him out? Frederick Hayek?
In the new Senate with 48 Republicans, votes on more Supreme Court nominees are CRITICAL. Do you think Brown's communist replacement will vote against the next wise Latina?
Brown remains very popular with the liberal unenrolled unmarried women and African-Americans who elected him. Their key issues are unlimited abortion, sexual libertinism, and non-discrimination.
Brown was a GENIUS to flip those two core constituencies from their natural Democrat allegiances. To expect him to do anything that will flip them back is idiotic.
It is amazing how far left the Democratic party in MA has moved. To think that Scott Brown is giving you what his "Liberal Rat" replacement will is very foolish.
