NPR issued this “URGENT” staff memo about a broken flagpole at approximately 10 a.m. today. “This is obviously an extremely dangerous situation,” the memo says. The front entrance has been closed. Staff on the south side of the building have been evacuated and moved to more protected areas....

I seriously doubt NPR has a US flag. its probably a UN or Soviet flag, or maybe one with the CPUSA's hammer & cog symbol.

That photo was taken outside of Boston City Hall in 1978? A kid that worked for me was a close friend of the Flag welder, from Charlestown if I remember correctly.

I believe the flag wielder was attacking the black man over his support for bussing. By bussing I mean desegregating schools.
