Prepare for death in the streets then.
Anything more than $4/gallon will set the population off, IMHO.

Anything more than $4/gallon will set the population off, IMHO. Probably going to be more gas theft. Unfortunately for gas stealers in these parts, it's likely to get you staring into the business end of a long rifle or shotgun if you're caught by some of the local folks.

Maybe I’m seeing black helicopters, I don’t know. But it just seems like it’s one more thing to try and restrict travel. The government is trying (or with this new law actually already has) to get control of the food supply. They’ve got control of the health care system, they’re grabbing control of the internet etc.etc.. Is it me?

$4 does appear to be the “tipping point” for most people.
That’s where they start getting really mad.

It wasn’t that long ago when people went ballistic over $1.50/gallon gas. Gas is on the low side of what it could be right now because of recession decreasing demand and allowing high inventories. If we have a short term increase in demand with a depleted supply, we’ll see prices more than double.
Congress will hold hearings on “price gouging” and “profiteering” by the oil companies while they spend us into oblivion and continue to restrict domestic production of oil -and do nothing about the fundamental reason, the piss-poor dollar that got that way due to out of control spending.

But they won't be able to drive very far to go off on anyone else. ;-)
