Taxes trigger a Texodus in New York
New York Post ^ | 12/27/10 | Jennifer Fermino

The Lone Star State is scooping up more than just our congressional seats -- some $846 million in personal income shifted from New York to Texas in an eight-year period during the last decade, according to an analysis of IRS tax returns.

Texas, which has no state or local income taxes and an enviably low cost of living, has been steadily poaching New Yorkers since the '90s, according to data from the Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan tax research organization based in Washington.

From 2000 to 2008, more than $846 million in personal income moved from New York to Texas -- with more than $212 million leaving in 2006 and '07.

New York lost an estimated $38.4 billion in personal income to other states in that same time period, while Texas gained roughly $12.2 billion from migration.

Texas was the big winner in the 2010 Census, which was announced last week. It picked up four House seats, more than any other state.

The fading Empire State came up short and lost two seats thanks to its sluggish population growth of 2.1 percent, compared with the national average of 9.7 percent.

"People aren't moving down to those Sunbelt states for the weather," said Kenneth Adams, president and CEO of the Business Council of New York State.

"It's three things: taxes, taxes and taxes."

RE: “I know you said “types”, but Limbaugh and Coulter already relocated to income-tax free Florida.”

***************

Coulter really moved to Florida? I thought she was still in NY or CT -— interesting.............

I’ve been thinking about Sarasota or Naples myself........

My thoughts exactly..
The ‘migrants’ from NYC and nystate and the Northeast in general may arrive with a whole new sense of entitlement as if they should be rewarded for the ‘faith’ they’ve shown in Texas/

Jeez, I din’t realize there was a season and limit on you guys or that taxpayers were a protected species

Let's just be clear: They are an endangered species, and, like all taxpayers, they belong to the government.

That's how all governments view people.

What they’ve done to both coasts is unbelievable. They’re a plague.

Texas, you are going to be dammed sorry, if you keep advertising your business climate. Soon you will have all of the N.Y. parasites in Texas and they will all be yammering for the same thing that ruined N.Y. Just lay low and enjoy your present state.

We’re already sorry about Austin. It used to be such a cool town.

When I enlisted, an old Texan soldier told me about the joys of Texas. It was the only place in the world where you could stand in a mud hole up to your tocus, and have dust blown in your face by a 50mph wind. The people are friendly though. The liquor laws are strange - BYOB.

The sales tax will be the same here. But ... with what you’ll save on income tax and home prices, you can build a new castle twice the size of the one you have now.

Word of advice, get ya some land.

And for all the people thinking of coming to Texas, Please don’t come if you are a liberal or a RINO, we have plenty of those.

Let me add to that, if I may.

If your definition of "gun control" is anything other than "hit where you're aiming", please stay out of Texas. We don't need you.

If, when you hear a Texas (or Southern) accent, you mentally deduct 30 points from the speaker's perceived IQ, don't come to Texas. We don't want you. (Most states to the east of us would likely agree with that).

The thing that I remember vividly about Texas was the size of the mosquitoes. The were so large that you actually could feel one land on you. Amazing. While I was there a man escaped from jail. Three days later he surrendered. He had been bitten by mosquitoes all over his body. That was when a common, ordinary citizen could buy and use DDT.

Listen people. If you come from a liberal State, stay there. It’s 120 here in the summer, and we don’t need any liberal influences or sensitivities. Sure it was 80 last Monday and a perfect day for golf, but our social services suck and the schools are (supposedly, by liberal standards) bad and we don’t even pay enough welfare to afford golf.

We talk funny, we own guns and we will carry them on our person, and we don’t even care what you think about it. We tell jokes that would make most liberals blanche, and we don’t care what you think about it. We love Mexicans and their culture, especially the food and beer, but we don’t like illegal immigrants of any sort, and we don’t care what you think about it. We do want a wall, a real wall, and yes, we don’t care what you think about it. We love our State and our Country, and we think those that don’t should go somewhere else. We even believe that if you mean us harm we have every right to kick your ass every way to Sunday, and we mean real ass kicking, where stuff gets broke and people die.

So if you aren’t down with that, stay home, we don’t need any more liberals, Austin and the 5th Ward has more than enough already.

I'll say it again...NYC is a skinny Rosie O'Donnell with no children just begging for problems and making a career out of being her own worst enemy.
