Ethanol damages engines and is not a viable alternative to fossil fuels, but farmers and lobbyists don't want you to know that

I hate it, it's a scam, but the good side is I can drive my old car uber fast on the highway without it overheating like it did with real gas.
It has that much less heat value , I reckon?

as long as farmers get gubmit handouts they could care less what their product is used for. I have no doubt other factors are in play but I’m tired to paying more and more for my food.

End ALL subsidies for ALL energy. Let it rise of fall based on the merits. While Moochelle is globe-trotting on the “company” 747, eating wagyu beef, allowing us to have one slice of pie for Thanksgiving....and then telling us fat kids are the #1 national security issue, the REAL security issue is energy independence. Maybe she should advocate for MORE drilling, and MORE drilling, and maybe MORE drilling to reduce our dependency on foreign oil.

Just wait until a few homes with attached garages burn down and people are killed by this crap eating through older rubber fuel lines.

"...garages burn down..."You know the gov't pukes would react by requiring that all garages (new & existing) be fireproofed (with annual inspections) at a cost of untold bazillions (with suitable payouts to their cronies). So, please keep this quiet.

the REAL security issue is energy independence. The REAL #1 security issue is the incompetent buffoon we have sitting in the White House and the rank, globe-trotting amateurs in the State Department that spend more time on a plane boozing it up than anything else.

I hate it, it's a scam, but the good side is I can drive my old car uber fast on the highway without it overheating like it did with real gas. You realize you're getting anywhere from 2 - 3.5mpg less burning gasoline that has 10% ethanol vs. just pure gas don't you?
That reduction in mileage also has a direct correlation to reduced horsepower and performance.

NASCAR is using E15 this coming year! Not much of a NASCAR fan here, so I have to ask the question: Didn't those engines require some form of modification to be able to run E15 effectively (ie: not destroy seals, etc..) or weren't they already setup to be able to run E15?
Older cars are going to have major problems with increased ethanol requirements, specially fuel pumps, seals and other components that are not designed for such high uses of alcohol in fuel. At least that's what I'm hearing from my mechanic and in our antique car club....

Ethanol cannot reduce the need for oil. It is a matter of physics that any quantity of ethanol delivers 40% less energy than the same quantity of gasoline. Thus any blend of gasoline and ethanol has less energy than an equal quantity of gasoline alone. The result is fewer miles per gallon roughly equal to the percent of ethanol. A 10% ethanol blend gives about 10% less miles per gallon than straight gasoline. Hence where is the saving in oil?
Sadly many Republican members of Congress are whores of the ethanol industry. It is also interesting to note that no farm equipment runs on ethanol or ethanol blends. You would think farmers would be clamoring for ethanol powered equipment. Many farmers also shun bio diesel as the vegetable oils tend to gel at temperatures typical during spring planting and fall harvest.

This needs to become a major teaparty/conservative issue. Just no possible way we should be using corn to make ethanol while people go hungry in the world.
