The Maine senator collected kudos from President Obama for her role in moving the controversial legislation forward.
Maine Sen. Susan Collins was the only Republican on the stage for yesterday's signing of the bill repealing the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy on gays in the military, and one of only two Republicans at the ceremony.
Collins, who played a major role in moving the legislation forward, collected kudos from President Obama. "I want to thank Joe Lieberman and Susan Collins," he said, to cheers from the attendees.
Collins says there was no reason for the U.S. military to continue banning gays. "Great Britain, Australia, the Israelis--some 28 countries allow openly gay and lesbian men and women to serve."
Collins says it will take some time to implement the change, but she says it is needed.
Man, not for four (nearly three) more years, huh? Well, it is Maine, so I don’t hold out much hope that a conservative could take her place.
Illinois' very own Mark Kirk?
Collins talks like she has brain damage, or is that just a “Maine” accent?
I think they have a half a testicle between the two of them.
If she's replaced by a Democrat, how will you tell the difference?
Democrats will hardly miss Kennedy with super RINOs like Collins on the scene.
Collins is doing what is fine with Maine as she sees it. I think a party switch is not unlikely.
In addition to Collins were 7 other empty suit RINOs who aided and abetted the homosexualization of the Armed Forces. None of them has come up with a substantive argument to open the military to sodomy, other than “it’s fair” and “almost every other country does it.”
Last I checked, the idea was to prevail in conflicts, not to emulate the Netherlands.
I live in Maine and the word on the street here is she is as queer as a three dollar bill. Not married, rumor had her shacking up with some TV personality a few years ago that she made into her spokesperson.
"It is the well-being of these brave young Americans, those doing the fighting and the dying since 9/11, that has guided every decision I have made in the Pentagon since taking this post nearly four years ago."
"In my view, the concerns of combat troops as expressed in the survey do not present an insurmountable barrier to successful repeal of dont ask, dont tell. This can be done and should be done without posing a serious risk to military readiness."
Press Conference on Defense Department Study on the Possible Repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
Add to that, from the 536 page Department of Defense Fiscal Year 2009 Annual Report on Sexual Assault in the Military, page 359 During FY09, there was a strong education campaign, Navy/Marine Corps-wide, to educate Sailors, Marines and civilians about sexual assault reporting options (Restricted and Unrestricted), services available to victims of sexual assault, and crime prevention. Training focused on defining criminal behavior so that more personnel within the Department better understand and recognize a sexual assault. As Sailors and Marines receive this training ad become better educated about the SAPR (Sexual Assault Prevention and Response) program, they have begun to report their sexual assault victimization in larger numbers. By way of example, male victim reports nearly doubled in FY09 and rose from 9% in FY08 to 17% in FY09.
The HAIL with Collins, Obama and the rest who ignore our Troops to shove this down their throats.
“Smell my finger”
“Great idea letting a state with .003% of the US population basically ursurp the will of the vast majorly.”
What is even worse is this was for what is “at most” 1-2% of the population (homosexuals).
“None of them has come up with a substantive argument to open the military to sodomy, other than its fair and almost every other country does it.”
There are not proper words to express my disgust with these fools.
WHOMever obamanation heaps praise upon, is the ENEMY!

Might have been the illustrious TRAITOR, RINO, SHAMELESS, BACKBITING, Richard Burr that I am ashamed to say is from N.C.! He just got reelected running on a promise of limiting federal government. North Carolina has no Senatorial Representation! Burr also cosponsored the S510 food bill.
“None of them has come up with a substantive argument to open the military to sodomy, other than ‘its fair’ and ‘almost every other country does it.’”
Because there aren’t any substantive arguments. It’s impossible to expect reason from, or to reason with, a reprobate mind. Imagine going to an insane asylum and hearing one of the inmates ranting, “The moon is made of green cheese!” Are you going to go round and round with the person, declaring, “No, it’s not! The moon is made of igneous rock!!!” Not if you’re rational. Why not? Because you know the person is just spouting nonsense and cannot reason correctly. (However, at least those people have a legitimate excuse—an illness—and didn’t choose to be that way.) It’s the same way trying to explain issues like gay marriage to liberals. Because their minds have become reprobate, they just spout nonsense and cannot reason correctly. It’s just a waste of time to try to talk sense into them.
Maybe we should print up some T-shirts for the members of Congress et al. that say, “I’ve been given over to a reprobate mind, and I’m lovin’ it!!!” :P
it stands to reason that the obama administration would press for a repeal of DODT since the obama doctrine is the destruction of the USA
“Bradley Manning in custody for espionage in the recent Wikileaks scandal, confessed that his motive was retaliation for gay harassment”
When does Manning get his Presidential Medal of Honor??? :)
All I can say is that President Obama must be a huge fan of Bill Shakespeare, because the whole theme of his administration seems to be:
“Fair is foul, and foul is fair.” ;)
