Overseas deployment during and after WWII did it. Listeners of the 1950s rock and roll aren’t the ones who decided to overturn America—it was the baby boom children of parents who had come back with new values.

I vigorously disagree.
Perhaps the permissiveness of those parents allowed the pollution into their homes via television and radio, but the US culture is defined by the entertainment media - Hollywood, Nashville, New York, etc.
BS! My father and everyone of his age didn’t come back with a more permissive attitude. I grew up during the 50s and 60s and I and most of my friends didn’t think that way and we all grew up with TV and Rock and Roll. It’s the idiots who made sports stars, music stars and entertainment the focus of their lives rather than a sometimes leisure activity who became caught up in the message. It was a small percentage of my contemporaries, usually the more privileged of the bunch who got this crap going and that includes the same types in my father’s generation.
