An airline pilot is being disciplined by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for posting video on YouTube pointing out what he believes are serious flaws in airport security.

Finally a sensible comment. Even TSA can occasionally swerve into doing something right.
I just returned from a trip - Seattle to Southern California. On the way down, my husband and I were both pulled out for secondary screenings. I am a mid 40s housewife of Irish lineage. My husband is a 50 year old first generation Norwegian. If TSA was looking for any red flags for potential terrorists, I doubt they’d find one between us! But, we were pulled out of line and had a pretty embarrassing body search done in front of a few hundred people! (The agents didn’t seem to be any more pleased than we were and behaved very professionally the whole time.) Needless to say, I felt LESS safe after this as I fumed over the complete waste of time and thought about all of the potential bad guys who got through while my husband and I were being humiliated.
On the way back, my 20 year old son (remember 1/2 Irish 1/2 Norwegian) was selected for a secondary screening. He also declined the “cancer machine”and we discovered something very interesting. Since this was a smaller airport, they shut down the machine so that the operator could perform the pat down. So, for the next five minutes, everyone else just walked right through because the scanner wasn’t manned! Hmmmmmm, do you suppose that the terrorists might also notice this opportunity? Let’s put the guy who is clean at the front of the line and when he refuses the scanner, we’ll all just walk onto the plane while he’s getting patted down!
This story was huge a few weeks ago but too many people have just decided to submit and not make a fuss. I admit - I live in liberal Washington State and I know it won’t do any good to complain to my elected officials. So, Freepers, what do you suggest that I do now? I’m furious but I’m just one person! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I’m losing my freedoms bit by bit by bit....
ditto that
Terrorists already know the secruity flaws in an airport.
TSA isn’t authorized, they had to get the local cops to do it. I don’t know kind of dipsh— cops they have in that town. I am very good friends with a well-placed person in an international airport in my area, he tells me that the cops here hate TSA and think they’re a bunch of dorks.
He also gave me a good hint: when you leave the security area, you are done with TSA. If anybody from TSA hassles you outside the security area, tell them to get bent and call a cop if they have a problem.
The TSA is pissing in the wind, they don’t have jurisdiction over the area that this guy was complaining about (the gate area, the doors that employees use to bypass the TSA security area, etc.). He wasn’t filming the TSA security area or any of their procedures. If anybody has a beef with this pilot, it’s the cops and the airport, not TSA.
There was a recent case at SLC International where a TSA agent saw what he thought was an unattended bag at the gate. The owner had to take a bathroom stop and had his buddy look after his bag for him. The bag owner walked up right when the TSA clown was asking loudly, “Whose bag is this?!” When the owner identified the bag as his, and his buddy said that he was looking after the bag for his friend, the TSA guy started chewing them out and said, “Come with me, you’re in a lot of trouble!” TSA dude was trying to back-room them.
They knew that TSA had no authority and told him to call a cop or piss off. Cops were called, they listened to the whole story, told the two guys to go about their business, and told the TSA guy to take his dumb ass back to bag check where he belongs.
I believe he had to have the permit as he was a TSA certified “guns in the cockpit” pilot.
None of us should need a ccw- the Second Amendment is clear. Each state needs to acknowledge it like AZ, AK, and VT have done. We shouldn’t need permission to excercise our RIGHT-!!!
Who’s going to stop them?
But, but, but... I heard BIG SIS FAT A$$ tell us: “See something, say something!” Oh, wait... That’s not what she meant? She meant for Americans to spy on each other? Oh...
TSA... Those Skinhead A-holes
TSA... Terrorists Searching Americans
TSA... Treason Strikes Again
TSA... They Shoot Americans
TSA... This Sh*t Again?
TSA... Threats Seizures and Arrests
Even if going through channels is ignored? Even if the terrorists are smart enough to figure this out all by themselves?
I really hate what our society has become.
So the FedGov sends six agents to take his gun away but it takes his own airline to ask that he take down the Youtube video!?! Clearly the Fed’s problem with him has nothing to do with security.
I’ll bet this never goes to court. The TSA can harass him because the gun permit is through them, but going before a jury, no way this passes muster. Of course, we figured OJ was going down, too.
How much will we tolerate? Apparently we will tolerate any degree of fascism thinking it will never happen to us.
How do you know what intel the terrorists have?
“Even if the terrorists are smart enough to figure this out all by themselves?”
So if someone did this at a nuclear plant, or outside the World Trade Center in NYC, or the tunnels in NYC, or the Golden Gate Bridge, you’d be OK with it? Maybe case your own house and put it on YouTube ‘cause the home invaders already know how to break in and how to figure out when you are home?
No, detailed security vulnerability analyses should not be made public, even when done by upset amateurs.
As for “going through channels”, the “channels” hire experts to do their vulnerability analyses and keep them secret, because you or anyone else don’t know what the terrorists know or what they can figure out or what little detail is exploitable. You and I don’t get to read them.
Ha ha ha ah wow! Yeah, it’s truly National Socialist tactics to stop insiders from revealing exploitable security vulnerabilities!
I love this place I truly do, thanks!
When it becomes time to use em you won’t need a CCW anyway.
At 9/11 they found boxcutters hidden on planes that were not hijacked, but they were in place. That had to of been done by someone with access to the planes.
