With the release of Kid Rocks terrific pro-freedom and pro-American anthem Born Free, and the latest installment of John Ondrasiks For the Troops compilation, I got to thinking about songs that go against the so-called liberal grain of pop culture and espouse either a pro-military, pro-American, or just pro-liberty theme.
Some are overtly topical to the political or cultural situation in their time or even battle cries. Others are merely personal anthems that project an American sense of independence, self-reliance or willingness to fight for what is right. They are alike in their timeless appeal.
Here are my Top 10, with a few runners-up thrown in.

American Girls and American Guys
We’ll always stand up and salute
We’ll always recognize
When we see Old Glory Flying
There’s a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head
My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Until the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free.
Now this nation that I love
Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin’ in
From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the 4th of July
Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin’ her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it’s gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin’ her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue
Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And you’ll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
Cause we’ll put a boot in your ass
It’s the American way
Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin’ her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it’s gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin’ her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue
Honorable Mention: Ted Nugent!
p.s. What, “ Let’s Drop the Big One” by Randy Newmann not pro-America??
/s
VOA - Sammy Hagar.
Beats any country influenced patriotic song by country mile.
Reagan Wins, Reagan Wins!
Probably going to start a playlist of only Love America songs. Boodmark this thread...
What a great idea! :-)
All good choices
I like it........
What are we running for?
When there's no where left to run to any more.
We can't afford to be innocent
Stand up and face the enemy
It's a "Do or Die" situation
We'll be Invincible
Iced Earth trumps Popallica.

Star Spangled Banner followed by Declaration Day
This song and video is as relevant today as before the election due to the excessive number of RINOs and RATs still around. 2012 we continue scraping the DC sewer at the ballot box.

San Antonio Tea Party used Don’t Tread On Me for their first Tea Party. You can get it on youtube. I would give the link but I am computer illiterate.
Very very good. It gets a vote from me for whatever that is worth.
I also liked Metallica (Popallica) Day That Never Comes.
Iced Earth rules! Their whole Glorious Burden album is great. Their guitarist/leader/founder Jon Schaffer, is a real Civil War historian and patriot. Plus he puts James Hetfield to shame, rhythm guitar wise.
