The officer ordered the dog to stop and when it didn't, the officer shot and killed the animal in its yard, Daniel said.

They didn't release this dumbass's name because he is a f@cking idiot AND a pussy! To the people of whatever jurisdiction this asshole operates in: BEWARE! You have a coward idiot protecting you. What are you going to do about it?

>> Questions are generally repeated when they go unanswered...

Fair enough. You have yet to answer my repeated question of why the question is relevant. So, again ... who cares?

Yep. We’re repeating history one step at a time.

How do mailmen possibly survive without a gun and shooting dogs on a daily basis?

Who cares?

I see....So your suggesting it's OK for cops to open up with guns in neighborhoods full of people and kids, shooting the family dogs, but the mailman have no need to protect themselves in a similar manner?

How is it possible mailmen are able to protect themselves against dogs without shooting them?

How does that work Tex?

Only in self-defense. Mailmen can protect themselves however they want ... the right of self-defense is not exclusive to cops.

Back in 1990, I had two Dobermans and *no* fence whatsoever.

They would run full tilt right up to the property line and skid to a halt, barking their heads off.

NEVER stepped off my property, even once.

Many dogs, due to their scent-marking/territorial boundary instincts know where “their” property ends and somebody else’s begins better than the average fence-hopping neighborhood kid.

Umm, I was making a joke - just like I THOUGHT you were doing with the dog comments.

“.....Now go BARK up someone else’s tree”

With all the subtle innuendo with the rolling pins and battered wife syndrome I suspect you aren’t as “funny” as you think you are.

Have a nice day.

Uh, hence the reference to exigent circumstances. The left should be quite aware of nuance. Statists don’t give a rip.

Because they lack that obvious ounce of common sense?

On the upside, the kid wasn’t hugging his dog or rushing out to save it or we’d be having an even more “interesting” discussion.

Threatening person/gut reaction/collateral damage and all that, ya know.

"OMG....it’s the Apocalypse!"

LOL...I wouldn't go that far, but it's probably one of those "one day in a thousand years" kind of things ;-)

Given all the DADT, DOM krap these daze, I think I should be able to marry my dogs for the tax benefits.

That’s well and good ... but you cannot expect a bystander to know that about your dobermans when they take off at full-tilt in his direction. Restraints must be obvious to the casual observer, otherwise the dogs just look unrestrained.

"DO NOT CALL THE COPS.”"

As I have found out since the 50's when cops were a kid's friend, cops are best to be avoided as much as possible. They are clearly NOT your (or your dog's) friend if you are an adult.

My Golden is a giant wimp, but he is also 85 lbs and certainly can be perceieved as a threat if riled.. however, shooting a dog in its own yard?

I have been bit by dogs, and yes even the tamest breed or dog can do damage, but still, if the dog hadn’t left its yard... which obviously it hadn’t because of the electric fence, I think this officer likely over reacted, big time.

Sad day for those kids, always hurts when a pet dies, but to have it killed in front of you, by what was probably just flat out foolishness... certainly isn’t a good day.
