FReeper PAC discussion thread
Free Republic ^ | 12/18/2010 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 12/19/2010 7:55:43 PM PST by BuckeyeTexan

Saturday night, December 18, 2010, Jim floated the idea of forming a political action committe to organize an effort to defeat the RINOs in the upcoming 2012 and 2014 Congressional elections.

"Yup, I do believe it’s time. We need to organize an anti-RINO PAC and get it going in all 57 states to support and elect True God and Country Conservatives™. We can do it!! FReeperPAC is born!"

Many FReepers expressed interest in helping with the PAC, posted research/resources, made relevant suggestions, offered advice, etc. It's time to move that effort to its own thread.

Please continue you contributons here. If you posted important information to the other thread, please consider re-posting it here. You will not automatically be added to the FReeper PAC ping list. You must request to be added if you want to receive pings to important updates.

Simply put, it’s been my experience, that the candidates with “fire-in-the-belly” rise to the top or garner attention locally pretty fast, while the wallflowers might have the same message, they never catch fire, so ‘ruthlessness’ is definitely in play. :)

Count me in if this is for primaries but after a primary, I’m GOP all the way. I will not do anything to undermine any Republican candidate. I despise RATS.

Ok, good to know....the only problem is that Republican primary voters only vote for “wallflowers” because they get good press, and are therefore “electable”.

Thanks STARWISE.
Have no experience in the workings of a political organization or PAC...
The Tea Parties were a bunch of parallel political organizations; not sure what this PAC idea is intended to do, really. Who are the RINOs? Which RINOs? How about defeating the Demwits? RINOs are Pubbies elected by a fence-sitting electorate who could just as readily support a Demwit.

Of course, if the goal is to re-elect Harry Reid, as the NRA tried to do with its PAC, then I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be interested.

"We have not yet begun to fight!!"

Jim - THAT is the most important thing you've said - we (95% of FReepers) have NOT even began, although a few of us have 'been there done that" - where it really counts.

FReepers can't mount a national PAC that plays in the big leagues - and goes after those already sitting in high government office, we would simply not have the money to be very effective. BUT WE CAN HAVE A HUGE IMPACT, denying the ability of RINO's to rise to the national level. We can teach people how to be effective were it will count - even greater than shooting at those at the top - by taking out RINO's in local and county districts, and at the state level, were WE COULD BE VERY EFFECTIVE.

First, members of our PAC have to know where the battle-line really is, in their own district. They have to show up there - gain a voting seat (which is OFTEN relatively easy, WITHOUT ELECTION!) All FReepers have to do is go to the meetings they need to attend. Often they can become a vote-capable alternate, just by being there!

The problem with most FReepers is that they have their eyes fixed on sitting members of Congress, and haven't a clue about the who runs their County or State Party, and there ARE MANY RINO's there that need taking out - WHERE WE COULD BE EFFECTIVE.

If you want a ROCKIN' ROLLIN' PAC - use that PAC to fund FReeper involvement locally - but primarily at the state level. Here's why. County party members are not paid in most cases. You have to pay all of your expenses to go to these meetings - and if you go to state party conventions, you have to pay all of your own expenses... yet, it is at the state level conventions where FReepers can cut the legs out from under RINO's trying to climb to the top.... that is, if they commit to the time and expense of doing so.

Remember this - the GOP across the country has roughly 40 to 50K members in the states - and if we don't control RINO's there - where we can, you can 'bet the farm' that we can't do it at the national level.

Almost every state has two to four state conventions every year - and one of those conventions elects state party officials. We have to OWN those state parties - and a FReeper PAC could greatly assist in doing just that, which is strategically and economically possible... versus the nearly impossible hope of ever controlling anything at the top of the political ladder.

I know from personal experience that beating the RINO's at the state level is possible, because I helped do it in CA when Pete Wilson was governor. He spend $3.5mil in an attempt to elect an ALL-RINO state leadership. Under the auspices of the The CRA, (California Republican Assembly) I spent roughly 3K, and denied Pete Wilson the ability to elect even ONE at the state convention. We defeated ALL RINO's - and really infuriated ol' RINO Wilson.

That election allowed us to use money to elect a conservative majority in our state legislature back then, and it allowed us to choose who went to the national party structure, and to the national conventions!

If FR can help do that in most states, we would derail, if not completely eliminate most RINO's rising from state to national leadership. But, there is a lot to teach FReepers about actually getting into the political arena where it counts - at the local level, and how to become very effective at the state level. FR could do that, and folks like myself that have done this work, could provide all the information people need in order to get the job done.

But, fair warning - if ANYONE thinks this is something easy, or cheap - I'm here to tell you it isn't. It costs everyone that gets into it a pretty penny. It takes LOTS of your personal time and effort, and the whole process can be very frustrating at times - BUT, being a RINO-KILLER in your own district, county and state can also be VERY rewarding.

Perhaps it would be wise for us to talk about this, apart from threads here, to come up with an economically feasible battle plan - that sets and achieves reachable goals in the near term.

“I no longer have much use for KJV and it’s versions. It is just a re-hash of the Latin Vulgate translated into 16th century English. It was the Anglicizing of “the church”, due to the King’s lust.
The NIV, however, is a more scholarly approach, using the best texts in Hebrew, Latin, Aramaic, Greek, and any other sources.”

Actually, the KJV was an exceptional piece of translation work. A remarkable example of God’s providence. The New KJV was not just a simple modernizing of the wording to bring it into line with the late 20th Century when it was produced. The scholars working on it consulted numerous old manuscripts of the Greek NT and the the same for OT Hebrew (with the limited use of Aramaic in Daniel).

However, no translation is without limitations or bias put in by translators. I have never “trusted” the NIV because it was translated using “dynamic equivalence” which is really just a glorified way to paraphrase. However, the word for word translations like the New American Standard Bible are difficult to read because it really attempts to go word for word....and Greek and Hebrew don’t usually translate directly because of word order, etc. When I was studying Greek over 30 years ago, I did use the NASB to check my translations of the Greek NT.

Lately, I have come to like the “English Standard Version” published by Crossway Bibles. Like all versions it has its biases, but it strives to accomplish an “essentially literal” pattern. I would consider that to be more scholarly than “dynamic equivalence.” Of course, it all comes down to opinion.

I personally consider the entire Bible, in its original manuscripts, to be completely God inspired and infallible. Unfortunately, we don’t have the “original” manuscripts anymore...plus the Bible is a collection of works spanning thousands of years.

Fun to chat with you.

This will take some time - we need a name, a plan of attack, and goal setting.

LOL - I lean toward the FRREAK PAC (FreeRepublic Rino Elimination And Killer) PAC, but we'd probably be better of naming it simply the FRPAC - FreeRepublic PAC, leaving the gory details to the imagination.

A good plan of attack that all FReepers can participate in - where they live - will require a means of training and planning, which may require John Robinson's help - where only paying members of the PAC can see our strategy sessions and get the needed training. (We won't be able to do it via snail mail, so it'll have to be from some kind of well and closely guarded web-access.)
