Rep. Darrell Issa is finally getting what he has long craved: subpoena power. From his new perch atop the committee responsible for oversight investigations, the California Republican will be able to demand any document he wishes and summon anybody to appear before him - no small thing for a man who recently referred to President Obama as "one of the most corrupt presidents in modern times."
Even so, there's one thing Issa says he won't subpoena: Barack Obama's birth certificate.
"Mine is not the committee that asks where the president was born," Issa said in an interview.......

1. WaPo does not frame the BC subpoena issue as “debunked by Factcheck” but rather as having an appearance of “persecution” of Obama.
I view this as further progress in the MSM attributable to Kerchner and Lakin's (and others) articulation of the difference between a COLB and a 1961 BC with signatures. The Lakin case rubbed the MSM journalist puppy's nose in the "lack of 1961 BC" piddle big-time.
2. What is to stop Obama’s Commie-Daddy’s buddy, Gov. Abercrombie from simply refusing to honor an Issa subpoena claiming states rights? HI could claim that the House must honor HI’s certification of Obama’s HI birth under the “full faith and credit” clause of the Constitution, IIRC.

I would expect, and Issa may be anticipating, that to get an HI refusal up to SCOTUS would take at least two years or past the 2012 election with Obama’s claiming “racist persecution” that his privacy rights were being threatened in a way that no white president's privacy was investigated under subpoena.
Of course, that would be dishonorable and specious, but that never stopped Obama and his enablers.
Issa may have been advised (warned?) that Obama will fight to the death to prevent the exposure of the HI "vital records" so Issa can actually damage Obama and is reelection prospects much more effectively by exposing corruption in the Sestak case and the NBP voter intimidation case than by going on an HI fishing expedition.
I fear that springing Obama's HI 1961 BC will require some new person to come forward with evidence that has been withheld so far, or some official in Kenya to come forward, which could be life-threatening in that country and not merely a matter of who was paying the biggest bribe.
Care to flesh that out?

I’m glad to see talk show hosts as being part of the problem. Basically a bunch of whiners. Rush can’t ever have enough money, Levin is full of himself, Laura still trying to find herself....the direction never changes almost as if they are part of the script down the road of ruination.
They all know more than they are willing to say, gutless.
Or various illegal contacts with foreign governments prior to his immaculation?
Or derelection of duty during wartime when CiC tasks required his attention, but he was playing golf and eating ice cream?
Or personal use of government property, like airplane caravans to campaign events?
We can get to the natural born citizen stuff while you are chasing these crimes, Issa. But, by heaven, do *not* screw this up.

California Rep. Darrell Issa plans to greatly expand the scope of federal oversight upon his election to chair the oversight committee in the new Congress, he told Politico in an interview.
"I want seven hearings a week, times 40 weeks," Issa said. Issa's election to chair the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform would herald a significant increase in the committee's activity, and not just from the past two years. California Rep. Henry Waxman, the committee's Democratic chair during the final two years of the Bush administration, held 203 hearings over the course of two years.
With a goal of about 280 hearings each year, Issa hopes to more than double that. Politico reports that Issa is looking to create new subcommittees, and has plans to investigate controversial Obama-era initiatives like the federal stimulus package and possibly health care reform, as well as the $700 billion bank bailout passed under President Bush.
He also intends to coordinate oversight inquiries among other House panels.
"As Clint Eastwood says, a man needs to know his limitations," Issa acknowledged to Politico. "With other committees, we have good working relationships. Our committees have some areas of primary jurisdiction, including the federal work force, procurement and the Postal Service. The Electoral College and Dick Cheney certified the results. That's a fact.
And after 2 years worth of the best efforts of such “conservative” luminaries as Orly Taitz, Philip Berg, Andy “internet powerhouse” Martin, Lucas “Inspector” Smith, Ron “(Nom Du Jour)” Polland, Mario Apuzzo, Joseph Farah, Tim Adams, Pastor “Birthers and Truthers Unite!” Manning, Emmerich de Vattel, Leo Donofrio, Gary Kreep, etc...none have been able to persuade judges, grand juries (real ones), credible journalist, Representatives, Senators, Heritage Foundation, Landmark Legal Foundation that any of their “rumors “ merit serious consideration.
The most obvious rational explanation would be that once the so-called evidence was scrutinized, it wasn't credible.
But, for some on this website, it becomes necessary to trash good solid conservatives for no other reason than they refuse to champion birtherism.
Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham...All have been relentlessly promoting conservatism to millions on a daily basis, but now must be trashed because they don't promote birtherism.
Glenn Beck gets people fired from the WhiteHouse and helps expose ACORN and Soros, but he hurts the birther’s feelings by making fun of them, so he must be trashed as well.
Read some of the Lakin trial threads...some freepers were trashing the U.S. Military because they wouldn't play along with birtherism.
Real conservative Justices Scalia, Thomas, Roberts and Alito are accused of being threatened, bribed or sell-outs because they won't do what birthers fantasize they should.
The left has been trying to destroy Rush for 20 years, but now they are getting plenty of help from so-called conservatives who would rather chase penumbras than defeat the opposing parties misguided agenda.
If you want to believe Justice Thomas is evading Obama's eligibility, or that Michelle calling Kenya Barack's "home country" is proof of his birthplace, or Obama has spent millions hiding his BC...knock yourself out. I am equally skeptical of internet claims that contradict or support my position on an issue, and consequently, do my own research. Too many birther claims eventually end up unsupported by facts.
There is a reason that serious conservatives have not climbed aboard the birther train...and it doesn't involve a conspiracy.

Barack Obama provided all the documentation that was requested of him in order to qualify as the presidential nominee for the Democrat party. This is a fact.
Let's pick this apart point by point.
First, would you really trust the Democrat party to actually vet one of their candidates? By your statement, apparently you do! I believe this puts you in the delusional category. Second, are you aware of the change that was made to the document that the Democrat party uses to certify their national candidates to the 50 states?
Two different ones were generated. The initial one certified Zero as the Democrat Party's candidate for President and further stated that he was in compliance with all requirements of the US Constitution for that office. This was signed in the presence of a notary by Nancy Pelosi. This is the document that is (supposed to be) forwarded to the Secrataries of State for each of our 50 states.
But this is not what happened. The document that was signed and forwarded by Nancy Pelosi, certified that Barack Obama was the Democrat Party's candidate for President, but the sentence that stated that he was in full compliance with all the requirements of the US Constituition was removed. How come?
This is the political party that you trust?
Look at the damage that has been done to this country during the past week alone. Please, get your head out of the sand!

Wow...this sounds really serious. One would think that at least 1 or 2 of the 50 State Attorneys General would file suit against the Democrat party if they believed Pelosi committed fraud during the individual states qualification process.
And yet, instead, 20 State Attorneys General have created a coalition to challenge the constitutionality of Obamacare.
Do they all have their head in the sand as well?
Why do you dart off the issue?
It was you who raised the “fact” that the Democrat party certified Obama. I challenged your impression and instead of answering or getting to the bottom of the certification process (that you brought up), you dart off to a different topic.
You are just like the politician who, when asked a direct, specific question, provides an answer to a question that wasn’t asked.
You said you like to do your own research, so do some research on the certification process that the Democrat party provided to the Secrataries of all 50 states. It shouldn’t be too difficult for you since the specifics of this was widely discussed right here on Free Republic.
Once we get to verifying the accuracy of my response to you, we can move on to other issues. But for now, let’s stick to this specific topic.
Are you game or are you going to hide behind that voluminous skirt that so many of our talk show hosts and politicians hide behind?
