Senate Republicans blocked a measure Saturday that would have offered provisional legal status to some adults who came to America illegally as children.
Democratic backers of the legislation fell short of the 60 votes to move the DREAM Act legislation forward. Democratic Sens. Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Jon Tester of Montana, Max Baucus of Montana, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, and Ben Nelson of Nebraska voted against bringing the bill to the floor; Republican Sens. Richard Lugar, Lisa Murkowski, and Robert Bennett voted for it. The vote was 55-41.

Does what was done before.
Joins the US Navy.
(ducking, running)
Is this the end of Nightmare for now, or are they going to have another shot before ending the session?
Oh man you are in such trouuubbbbleeee!!!..:oP
LOL, I just hope JimRob doesn’t see it. LOL!
I believe they voted No Cloture on the Bill, meaning it can’t survive a filibuster. It was only blocked by 41 votes, but that should kill it for the Lame Duck Session.
Much of the US Latino community is conservative, a high percentage of Christians who attend church and agree with the conservative agenda on pro-life, right to work, and even opposition to ILLEGAL aliens.
The Dems think they have the Latino vote, but much like a lot of issues, they tend to have the loud-mouth, urban vote in a few large cities, but in the “fly-over” US, things are different. All the GOP needs to do is be more politic with the issue so we don’t drive away conservative, legal immigrants who support us on many social issues.
Good - nightmare over FOR NOW only.
But do not expect the Left will cease their antics. They are bound and determined to create their new fiefdom of permanent residents who can access all social programs paid for by the sweat of US citizens...and thus create a ready force to be used in wars and domestic security and voting. Another fifth column.
Heard/read all that before. I say BS. They vote 2 to 1 for dems. Always have. Even GW, who promised them spanish on every street in a "new America", could only get 44% of the vote.
As far as the Catholic Church is concerned they are fully behind the DREAM Act and supporting illegals. Doesn't say much.
All the GOP needs to do is be more politic with the issue so we dont drive away conservative, legal immigrants who support us on many social issues.
Again, what can the GOP promise them to get their vote?
Exactly! bump!
McCai8n Grahamnesty, and the Maine Twins all voted No.
Seemingly you are bought off by politicians promises. I make decisions based on issues, and positions. Everyone I respect does the same, so I really don’t know how to answer a question that asks me to name attractive promises.
Your observation is well-noted. Had the measure passed, the msm would have hailed it as a bi-partisan victory.
EODGUY
Interesting.
LOL I am "bought off" - right! You said the GOP should "be more politic". What exactly does that mean? The GOP has promised the latino cartel in the U.S. just about everything they want and still can't get more than 33% of the latino vote.
Everyone knows "conservative hispanics" but how is it the dems always get their vote?
Tells you that Murkowski and people like her are fools. What happened to the oath she took to uphold the Constitution and to represent her people? She obviously did this as a childish payback because she knows the people don’t like her and want her out. Time will wear on her. She bought her own hell and may she live with it the rest of her life.
Agreed. DREAM would have been a nightmare and not fixable in the future, ever. DADT has the potential for a later change, especially if it proves to hurt readiness or morale.
What does a queer illegal that wants to enlist do now?

Probably enroll in Beauty School paid for by our state taxes. There are too many gringas with pingas in those schools so the states will demand balance by paying for the illegals tuition.
yaaahooo!
DREAM = Dopers Resisting Everything AMerican!
It’s done for the year.
