A dash cam video from the officer who shot and killed Native American woodcarver John T. Williams was released Friday, showing Williams ambling slowly across the street in a crosswalk before the officer opens fire.

>>Yup. Still this was unjustified homicide.<<
Oh, absofrickinlutely. I was just bringing it up as probable. People in downtown seattle don’t realize how small it is until they’ve been to Chicago or NYC. If that guy was a vagrant with the record he had, and the cop had been on the force in that area more than a couple of years, the cop probably very well knew who the guy was, and probably knew something of is record, as well as his being a woodcarver.
It is all just educated guess on my part, of course. I used to work downtown and would watch the cops do their thing down there. I got to know a few of them at a very “cursory” level, and I was just a downtown office puke.
F’n bastard.NO EXCUSE FOR THIS!

Really? We are all jumping conclusions? You crack me up.
Birk’s badge was later pulled after a Seattle Police Department Review Board and Chief John Diaz reached a preliminary finding that Williams’ shooting was not justified.
A judge ruled Thursday that the clip from officer Ian Birk’s car could be released to the public after prosecutors had a chance to notify witnesses not to view the tape.
The tape’s release comes after a public disclosure request from the Seattle Times.
An inquest into Williams’ shooting death by Officer Ian Birk has been set to begin on Jan. 10. The facts of the case will be laid out in the open through the process.
And by golly the inquest has determined John T Williams was not facing the murderer and was shot four times in the right side.
Guess we’ll just have to suspend belief of our lying eyes.
This whole thing is sickening.
The cops can’t wrap this up and call it Christmas..it was MURDER.
The cop shot him in the back!
I am hearing impaired, as you know..
I got pulled over by a cop one night, and asked him to shine his flashlight on his own mouth so that I could “see” him speaking.
He complied, but at first I think he thought I was putting him on.
Williams? Is that the name?
That cop is toast.
>>Car? Where does the car come in?<<
I meant the cop hit the brakes and stopped his own car. :)
But yes, it does sound almost like an assassination.
Thank God you aren’t a big Indian guy!
LOL
Go to your room!
Why am I asking you? Good question. I don’t know. I think I was trying to respond to the FReeper who was saying we shouldn’t be jumping to conclusions based on the video. My apologies.
He crosses in the crosswalk, so he did not jay walk either. How in the world did someone that stupid get a badge and gun?
The point I was trying to make, is that the poor man probably didn’t hear him..
I was just fixing to. LoL
From the video, it was 5 seconds from the first "drop the knife" to the shots.
I know.
This is probably about how the Erik Scott murder in Vegas went down... except that the Costco security video footage was mysteriously corrupted and couldn't be used.
Officer speedy came to the from behind and issued 4 quick commands to put the knife down. Not really enough time for victim to turn and assess correctly what was going on before the first shot and five others.
Incidentally, the inquest determined the victim did not face the officer and was shot four time on the right side.

They’ve been having a hard time recruiting the last couple of years. I think they may have lowered the standards somewhat.
Maybe you have to show at least 6 months experience as a TSA agent.
Poor guy was probably totally unaware until the bullets hit. Deaf in one ear, concentrating on his carving.....Sad.

Are you friggin’ serious?!!!
Is that what happened to the video?
