Senator Scott Brown said yesterday that he will support renewed efforts to repeal the militarys dont ask, dont tell policy, helping supporters secure the 60 Senate votes they would need to block a filibuster and pass a bill to allow gays to serve openly.
Senate Democrats said last night that they would bring the repeal up for a vote as early as tomorrow and, with the potentially pivotal pledge from the Massachusetts Republican, the prospects for passage are stronger. If and when a stand-alone repeal bill comes up for a vote, he will support it, said Gail Gitcho, Browns spokeswoman.
Repeal of the 17-year-old policy, seen as highly unlikely as recently as last week, has political momentum. President Obama, who infuriated many liberals by cutting a tax deal with Republicans, renewed his push for an overturn of the policy and picked up the support of several key GOP senators.
Were over 60 votes; it would be just wrong to let the opponents of the repeal of dont ask, dont tell to run out the clock so that it cant happen, said Senator Joseph Lieberman, a Connecticut independent who has been leading the charge for repeal. To me this is not only good for the military but its a civil rights measure. And the days should be over when we let civil rights measures be filibustered so they cant be adopted.

If passed, enlistments will drop & then the DRAFT....just wondering.
Senator Scott Brown has now become “the guy who took Kennedy’s place”....I will refer to him as that from now on.
How about “Scott Kennedy”?
that’ll work, much shorter
brown fits into the new logo for the democrats nicely. what is yellow let it mellow and what is brown flush it on down.
Massa2shits needs to flush brown right on down in the next election. What do we expect from a RINO? the man has become emasculated.

Toomey to Support Dont Ask / Dont Tell Repeal
What the heck has gone wrong? I don't get it.
Scott is a socialist, so we should get used to it..
Maybe what we need is an all queer military. No straights allowed.
The draft is only brought up by liberals and progressives. No doubt that it will be attempted to be snuck in again in some other bill.
Right now the military is wanting the numbers to go down so any way of getting people out of the military is perfectly fine with the military. The Navy and Air Force are having serious cuts right now. The Army and Marine Corps will cut when Afghanistan is over. Trust me this is a great way to cut the numbers.
And I was flamed mercilessly when I suggested before the election that Brown was just another RINO saying what people wanted to hear. I have the same concerns about Rubio.....
Rubio Miami, Scott Kennedy Boston....nah
You're on to something. Draft all professing homosexuals; put them all in their own division and put them on the front lines. Problem solved.
Okay, give us an true conservative alternative that’s electable in (m)Assachusetts.
(crickets chirping)
We need to just write off states like Massachusetts...put the money into states where some money might make the difference for conservative candidates...
Brown is a one-termer. and a POS.
Not only will every sailor marine and soldier have to endure unwanted homosexual harassment but risk imprisonment and/or dishonorable discharge if they complain.
The UCMJ is not the US Constitution—arbitrary and capricious accusations of so-called “homophobia” will be vigorously prosecuted.
Once the military is commanded by either homosexuals or those terrorized by them,THEN Obama will have his brownshirts to finish the job of making a Marxist America..
You can add- benefits for the “wife!”
