Are you not aware that Lakin himself said he was wrong repeatedly in court when he pled guilty. I, personally, think he is was right to question BO’s illegitimate pResidency. It is a pity that Lakin and others think he was wrong.

Yes he made a big mistake, pleading guilty without a plea agreement for no prison time. By pleading guilty without a plea bargain, he lost his benefits and got prison time. He gained nothing by pleading guilty.

Once again Lakin’s trial has resulted, I believe, in more accurate reporting by AOL of who are now reporting what HI and “birthers” said without any framing that what HI said “debunked” anything or any reference to “nonpartisan Factcheck.”

AOL makes clear that the HI computer “certification” is _not_ an original 1961 BC. IMO, AOL is inviting fair-minded readers to ask the same questions that Lakin and “birthers” are asking.

I think you are missing the distinction between what Col. Lakin’s court martial was about, what he pleaded guilty to, and the eligibility issue.

Would you like to share with your fellow FReepers your personal experience(s) in taking a principled stand that cost you your long, honorable military (or other) career with its benefits, and your willingness to do time for it? If not, I suggest you not so quickly toss Col. Lakin aside as someone who ‘caved.’

It is sad that Lakin was so afraid of doing jail time and losing his benefits that he capitulated his brief “principled” stand and pled guilty, thus ensuring that he would get jail time and lose his benefits. It is sad that Lakin was so overcome with fear that he listened to the very bad advice of his lawyer, but Lakin alone sealed his fate.
