Republicans won an historical landslide. How many of the candidates ran on birtherism? None. The truth is, there were a couple that got branded with the birtherism label, but immediately took steps to publicly distance themselves from the issue. They wanted nothing to do with it.

How exactly have Democrats benefited from focusing on the so-called birth issue?? You're not looking at the whole picture. Remember, I said it's not a winning issue.

In the battle for the election-deciding, ill-informed independents, democrats often successfully employ the “don't vote for the crazy nutters on the right” strategy.

Republicans avoided the issue precisely because, to embrace it would have helped the democrats.

So yes, democrats would have benefited from birtherism had the Republicans run on the issue.

Stich Lip is a disgraceful person. I can’t imagine how bad moral is in the military. It is probably worse than under Jimmy. The Left has no regard for honor.

As far as LTC. Lakin is concerned, we should soon have some indication of military morale by the sentence that will be imposed by eight active duty colonels who are his court martial panel.
If Lakin had pleaded not guilty and fought for his position on principle, that might have impacted military morale, but copping a guilty plea, well that’s a horse of a different color.
You have to remember that this is a “new” military filled with Generation X’ers, sixty percent of whom favor the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”
Like every other Commander-in-Chief, Obama has placed his people in leadership positions throughout the military and personnel do as they are told.
Finally, one of only two active duty winners of the Medal Of Honor, America’s military heroes of heroes, testified AGAINST Lakin.

He wasn’t ordered to go by the President; he was ordered to go by his commander who signed his orders. There are specific criteria in the UCMJ for what constitutes a legal order. The “counts” for failure to go are very specific and limited.

So yes, democrats would have benefited from birtherism had the Republicans run on the issue.

The governor-elect of Georgia, Republicn Nathan Deal, sent a letter to President Stitch Lips asking him to resolve the controversy and release a legal birth certificate. This was well-reported in the news. Your theory fails.

Sounds like a nice tall tale. We’ve been told that Lakin was never actually ordered to deploy, so nobody missed anything because of Lakin. Also, let’s ignore the warnings that Lakin gave well in advance of disobeying orders and let’s ignore that President Stitch Lips hid like a 2-year-old child during this entire process.

I’m sure that you are just ignorant of the facts of the court martial and not just lying, but the charges against LtC. Lakin involved his failure to get on a specific flight to report for DEPLOYMENT. He was found GUILTY of that charge. Also LTC. Lakin took his pre-deployment leave which you can only take if you are being deployed. During the Court Martial, the panel (jury) asked to see the actual orders given to Lakin and they were provided during a recess in panel deliberations.

Major Dobson and his wife (also a Major Dobson) who both testified against Lakin were the final stake in the heart of the Lakin defense in the sentencing phase.

It was also highly unusual that MRS. Lakin was not in attendance at the trial. Wives of defendants always elict sympathy from a jury panel and the fact that she was not there was not a good thing for the defense.
Mrs. Lakin hiding is more significant than President Stitch-lip’s hiding. I can guarantee you that Stitch-lip’s legal advisors told him in no uncertain terms to say nothing and do nothing to influence the military justice system one way or the other.
My money is still on a Stitch-lip pardon for Lt.C. Lakin at some time close to the next election.

The problem is, the guy that signed his orders was his commander, not the President. That’s whose orders he disobeyed.

“Colonel Lind is far more honorable than you.”

COL Lind is a kiss ass functionary that is the moral equivalent to a NAZI operator of a death camp that was “just doing my job.” There is NOTHING honorable about her. IF she is indicative of what the JAG Corps has devolved into, then they may as well have civilians in civil service doing her job.

Her next move will be to help facilitate the removal of morally conservative personnel from the armed services because they have objections to open homosexuality in uniform. You support her, then you support the mentallity that will homosexualize the military. No this isn’t a illogicial leap. The whole deal is tied together.

I would rather have a million honorable men like LTC Lakin serving in the military than one COL Lind.

FYI: The prosecutionn has asked for dismissal, confinement for 24 months, and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.

The jury is now deliberating the sentence.

No, he will be held accountable for missing a specific movement & for disobeying orders.

Non-Sequitur posted an example of what I was referring to, only a couple of days ago, "Lakin wasn't ordered to Afghanistan, he was ordered to report to his brigade commander's office located in the D.C. are and to report for duty with a unit in Kentucky." Dobson can't replace someone who was never specifically ordered to go Afghanistan. It is a non-sequitur.

Then you understand that Dobson and his 2 year old are irrelevant. Thank you.

Colonel Lind is a professional who understands military law, military discipline, and military obligations. You simply reveal the depths of your own ignorance and hatred with this nonsense. You further reveal your status as a moral pygmy to so trivialize the horror of Nazi death camps in the service of your own outraged vanity.

Her next move will be to help facilitate the removal of morally conservative personnel from the armed services because they have objections to open homosexuality in uniform. Are you so stupid that you don't realize your beef on this issue is with Congress? If you can read, try reading about the DADT vote. Do you realize who is taking the vote? Do you realize who will make it a matter of law? It's not the JAGs, idiot. Constitutionally, they have no say in the matter.

Nathan Deal quickly sheds Facebook friendship with ‘birther’ attorney

From the article...

The campaign of Nathan Deal says the Republican nominee for governor shed “birther” attorney Orly Taitz as a Facebook friend this morning, within minutes of finding out who she was.

Liberal bloggers say candidate for governor Nathan Deal "dabbled" in birther conspiracies

From the article...

Deal’s spokesman Brian Robinson said the candidate is in no way a birther, and he didn't dabble in the subject.

“That is untrue. He did not dabble in birther conspiracies,” Robinson said.

As has been said before, Borg-style: “We are the Birthers. Your narrative will be assimilated. Your arguments and facts will be distorted into our own weird obsession. Resistance is futile.”

The ones I really feel sorry for in all this are Lakin’s wife and kids. As a father, you have an obligation to not put them in a vise for something this stupid.

"1057: The members are now deliberating on sentence.

The prosecution presented excerpts from LTC Lakin’s Care inquiry in which he admitted under oath that his former attorney, Paul Jensen, expressly told the accused that the orders he’d received were lawful, and that as an attorney, Mr. Jensen said he could not ethically advise the accused to disobey them. There was no surrebuttal.

The defense asked the military judge to find Specifications 1 and 2 of Charge II, which address LTC Lakin’s violation of two separate orders to report to the brigade commander on 31 March, multiplicious for sentencing purposes. She granted the motion, and in so doing reduced the maximum sentence to confinement from 42 months to three years.

The prosecution asked for dismissal, confinement for 24 months, and forfeiture of all pay and allowances. The trial counsel who argued noted that in LTC Lakin’s unsworn statement, his focus was always on himself: how he was concerned about the President’s eligibility, how he felt his concerns needed to be addressed, and so on, until the moment came to accept responsibility — at which point the accused focused on other people and how they let him down or supposedly misled him. The prosecutor also noted that at no point during LTC Lakin’s tearful discussion of his family or during his apologia to the commander did LTC Lakin see fit to mention MAJ Dobson or the hardships endured by anyone else as a result of LTC Lakin’s actions. Trial counsel tied the request for 24 months to the period of time the accused should have been in theatre: 2 days for every day he was not with the 1-32 Cav overseas.

The defense asked for a reprimand, “some” forfeiture of pay, and restriction to geographical limits (generally, such limits are to the limits of the base, or of some other geographical area, in the discretion of the convening authority). He argued for no dismissal and no confinement. The defense’s parting words to the members: “Merry Christmas.”

We will post the sentence when the members return.

It’s 22 degrees at Fort Meade and snowing heavily (for those who find the weather reports fascinating). According to Colonel Sullivan, the birther faithful have thinned out somewhat, as has the media contingent.

You miss the point. By the logic suggested previously, Democrats could have attacked him on this issue. It doesn’t matter if he denies it; he’s already been strongly associated with the issue, particularly by his actions. Jim Webb managed to paint George Allen as a racist from the use of a word nobody had heard before. It didn’t matter if Allen denied being racist. Likewise, if the birther issue had traction, we’d have proof that Democrats are benefiting. Instead, they got ‘shellacked’ in 2010.

My beef is with CONGRESS or ANYONE that helps carry out the homosexualization of the military; even indirectly. Lind is the souless type that will help persecute moral people in the name of the constitution and doing her duty....just as the SS did. This isn’t a far reach in logic.

You need to get your head on straight, stop insulting me, and see reality not “lawyer think.” You are part of the problem that enables the immoral and illegal to proceed under the guise of law. Destroying LTC Lakin has done NOTHING to enforce military discipline, it has only made holding a commission meaningless and further degraded the concept of the POTUS being CINC since he/she is somehow magically removed from the process? I wonder what LTC West (congressman elect) thinks about all this?

Attacking me for a legitimate analogy just shows you lack wisdom.
