Democrats' budget bill: $1.1 trillion; 1,900 pages (Have these bozos learned from the elections?)

Defying the political odds, Senate Democrats rolled out a year-end, government-wide spending bill Tuesday that cuts more than $26 billion from President Barack Obama’s 2011 requests even as it holds firm to thousands of the appropriations earmarks so adamantly opposed by critics of Congress.

Filling more than 1,900 pages, the $1.1 trillion measure represents an increase of less than 2 percent in annual spending but makes for an easy target of ridicule — a last stand by the Senate’s old bulls before the tea party takeover. In a scene reminiscent of the movie “Casablanca,” top Republicans expressed shock, shock that there was gambling still in Rick’s Cafe even after their own members have been quietly working to write the bill and gather GOP votes for passage.

“It’s completely inappropriate; I’m vigorously in opposition to it,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who then had to admit the bill included earmarks for projects in his home state of Kentucky. Indeed, the spending levels are specifically designed to meet appropriations targets that McConnell and much of the Republican leadership espoused only months ago, and the leader’s old friend, Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah), has been active on the bill’s behalf.

Appropriations clerks in both the House and the Senate have devoted months to the effort in a last hope of salvaging something from the collapsed budget process this year. The Departments of Defense, State and Homeland Security have the greatest stake in the increases above 2010 levels, and, surprisingly, the bill also adds about $5.4 billion for new labor, education and health spending in addition to billions more to meet a shortfall in Pell grants for low-income college students.

They were for it before they were against it. What a farce.

Have these bozos learned from the elections?

Yes, they have. They learned very well. That is why you have the bill. They realize this is their last chance to grab the brass ring and therefore why the republicans must absolutely oppose this until the 112th can honor the election lessons.

The rallying cry must be "The Consent of the Governed" and that a delay of 20 days given how long this has dragged on is not a high hurdle.

They remind me of King Kong atop the Empire State. Flailing away in his last Hurrah.

Shutting the government down would actually be a good thing.

Let it stay shut down for as long as it takes to wake them up or until the new Congress convenes.

Burn up the wires.

Make your outrage to your representative and senator palpable.

Call them. Burn up their phone lines and keep them jammed.

Wire them.

Email them.

Make them read every single word aloud in Congress.

Use any delaying tactic possible.

I saw on TV that there were over 20,000 separate earmarks in this monster. Either number is a huge amount since there are only 535 Congress Critters in both houses.

No these buffoons didn’t learn anything. This is the last big bash before the end of the summer. The new congress doesn’t get sworn in until January.

If nothing changes during this next session, there should be sweeping changes made again. Actually, regardless of that fact we need to do a major house keeping change again because we missed a couple of big areas like Kalifornia & New York just for starters.

Do not ignore the election results and the reason the GOP was placed back in power.

Let the democrats rip each other apart.

There is nothing in any of these pieces of legislation that cannot be taken up in the new congress.

Nov. 2nd was a cease and desist order of the American people. In no way shape of form should the “lame duck democrats” be permitted to ram through thousands of pages of legislation between now and Jan. 3rd.

C’mon, We the People took a stand and we’re not going to back down. Stand with us, don’t renege on the ballot box. Their agenda is not the agenda of the American People. We have spoken, we have given you our trust.

Don’t lose that trust. We can stop this mess, but you have to Stand with the American people.

Both the commies er democrats and the GOP have pig fat dripping off their fingers from this bill.

It is obvious that the GOP did not get the message and the dems don’t give a damn.

Like it or not Conservative have to either gain full control of the GOP or jettison the party and rebuild the base with the Tea Party.

If we thought we won anything other than moving a few deck chairs on the Titanic in November we are kidding ourselves.

Soros is going to get his wish if we cannot stop the progressive infestation in our government (all levels) universities and media IMMEDIATELY. That is a tall order but these communists hiding under progressive clothes will never stop trying to destroy the uniqueness of the USA. They have been at it for over 100 years and there is no indication that they intend to stop until the destruction is completed.
