Bill OReilly recently talked with frequent Fox News guest Charles Krauthammer to handicap potential GOP candidates chances in the 2012 presidential election. Krauthammer called Mitt Romney the front-runner and said Mike Huckabee has established himself as a major player but his most dissected comments will probably be his remarks on one Sarah Palin.
Krauthammer compared Palins problem to Hillary Clintons in the late 1990s strong support from her core base, virulent opposition from most others. OReilly asked if the level of opposition to Palin is the medias fault, and while Krauthammer said theyve contributed enormously and that the animus to her is unprecedented, he also allowed that she is not practiced in policy and that the infamous Katie Couric interview was not a gotcha interview. According to Krauthammer, Palins growth in mastering policy issues will shape her fate:
I think if you want to expand your base, you have to get into policy even though it sounds dull.

Romney the front runner? In what poll?
Charles is jumping over a shark here, like Rove did with the Tea Party.
Sarah Palin expounded and influenced more policy with her Facebook page than Charles can dream of doing in his variuous media avenues.
She actually got out of Alaska and influenced elections, the GOP and policies more than anyone.
Mitt—nothing. Huckabee—a folksie joke. Pawlenty—who?
Jindal—couldn’t even build a sandbar to protect his state’s coastline from an oil spill. Oh, and he isn’t natural born either.
Sarah Palin—Presidential material.
Oh, you betcha.
Charles can handicap all he wants. Won’t change what will soon happen. We have had enough of the RINOS and the DC insiders and panderers.
It is a time for string leadership, and Sarah has that in spades.
You see the lawlessness and corruption that Joe Miller is contending with in Alaska. This is what Sarah Plain wrestled with and beat back every day there.
But, oh yeah, she needs to bone up on policy.
Where’s that halibut mallet?
According to Krauthammer, Palins growth in mastering policy issues will shape her fate.
When it comes to energy policy, i will take Palin over any politician from either party.
AHHHHH!!! Surely he is not really that stupid. Nit-Witt Mitt will NEVER be an ACCEPTABLE candidate, much less the Front-Runner!!!
We have had Ivy League Presidents for 22 consecutive years (everyone since Reagan). Ivy League law graduates dominate the Supreme court, most recent cabinets and head many government departments. Ivy Leaguers are much of the problem.
So far all the policy wonks have done is continuously screw up the nation. Maybe we need someone in charge who ISN’T all about policy and nuance.
Obviously Krauthammer never reads Free Republic > Either that or he considers us as irrelevant.
Mitt Romney will never be a front runner in my book. nor will Huckabee.
I thinks it is clear that he is correct but She can get there with the proper team. I’m tired of policy wonks. They got us here.
Anyone shilling for Romney is pure unadulterated evil.
Krauthammer is looking more and more like a jerk every day.
Maybe the Mittster promised to make him his Secretary of State. Something is sure motivating all this slime.
More knowledge is always good. I think Kraut should attempt to can expand his knowledge to equal Sarah’s. Or he can shut up....his call.
She is no John Bolton on domestic issues... that is for sure... she does not support gay marriage and she does not support the repeal of dadt.
“Bolton is talking about running for president, and up until now it has been virtually impossible to find out anything concerning his views about the core moral questions of our day. That is no longer the case.
Townhall:
Reiterating a point he made to the Daily Caller, Bolton confirms hes willing to rankle some social conservatives by positioning himself to the Left of [Alleged] President Obama by explicitly voicing support for gay marriage. I think [same-sex marriage] is something that in society today, we ought to be able to live with, he says. I dont, however, think this is a matter to be adjudicated in federal courts. I dont think the Constitution speaks to the question at all. Its an issue that ought to be primarily decided at the state level, rather than being handed down by judicial edict.
He also makes really stupid remarks about abortion:
The question that Roe poses is not whether the Court was right or wrong on abortion; its whether it was right or wrong as a matter of Constitutional jurisprudence.”

I didn’t think it was all that bad. I do think she could use some foreign policy knowledge but that won’t come from the position she is in or has been in. This is more something that will show by whom he puts in her cabinet.
Krauthammer is brilliant. He made one mistake. He became a Washington insider. When he grows up he wants to be George will.
The Hammer has gotta' get out more (on the internet would be enough) and find that there's NO support for Romney beyond the Mitbots.
So where were the “others” when Sarah criticized the Fed Reserve on QE2 and pointed out in detail why it was dangerous?
So where were the “ others” when she warned about the weaken dollar last year and tied the fact that we don’t have an strong energy policy. A weakened dollar means higher commodity prices. This will make it more difficult to pay our bills including the bill to import oil.?
Where were the “others” in explaining the failures of the Obama Adminstration during the Gulf oil Crisis and explained what they had done to make drilling safer?
Where were the “others” on entitlement reform?
All of these things Sarah has produce in Facebook, Op-eds and major speeches but none of the others have said something about the subjects, or they have made general statements on the subjects in passing
Krauthammer isn’t saying Palin isn’t electable or qualified. He’s saying she needs to do some work. Who doesn’t?
I’m not a Palin supporter, but if I were, this would not bother me in the least.
This sounds like good advice to me, not a slam or a slight.
Domestically, she is fine.
On foreign policy, she is weak.
Sarah Palin has a 6 month window to get her foreign policy credentials together. Not a lot of time. I actually think she should take a trip around the world and do it on the down low. The lamestream media haters aren’t going to follow her around.
Whatever Sarah does, she better not get sucked into neo-conservativeland on foreign policy. That will kill all respect I have for her.
However, to be fair, the Huckster and Mormon Romney are weak on foreign policy also.
The Huckster would sell his own mother to supplicate to an illegal and Mitt Romney worries more about his magic underwear and his hairdo more than anything else.
I have no problems with other people supporting Huckles and Romney, because this is a free country and I don’t believe in true believerism when it comes to politics, but I share the feelings with the Free Republic consensus that they suck.
She has more policy knowledge in her pinkie finger than a certain community organizer.
