High School Basketball Player Attacks, Tosses Referee: Video.

A Florida high school basketball player, identified by a local newspaper as Mason Holland, attacked a referee then threw him to the ground after the official assessed a technical foul during a Monday night contest.

The game ended with Holland's team, Arcadia Desoto, forfeiting to Port Charlotte High School.

LOL....that's the same thing I was thinking. Now, agreed the short shorts of the 70's look kinda silly now, but come on....they call em shorts for a reason. They're not long and baggys. Just another sign of the thug/prison chic look.

Your point is that it was justified? You think a bad call should remove any Assault prosecution, because he had an "excuse"?

I suppose then that you can excuse ANY behavior of yewts who had bad childhoods, etc. so they are justified in shooting cops?

His choice is one that will cost him the rest of his life. He could be the greatest High School player in America, but he would not get a scholarship or any other reward.

Agreed. I don't know the age of this young man, but he must be somewhere in his late teens. He could have/might have gravely injured that referee.

When my kid was 10 he played YMCA ball. One of the bigger kids was roughing him up so I told my son to give it back as good as he got it. He took it literally and after being pummeled on another play he waited till the kid was running back up the court and drove his forearm into his back and sent him sprawling.

Not the outcome my advice had intended. The technical was assessed and the kid who was doing the rough stuff lightened up for the rest of the game.

Any minute now Al Sharpton will be on TV telling us what a nice young man this guy is, well-mannered, polite, and a model citizen, who was a victim of the ref’s racist interpretation of the rule book.

If you watch the clip, the ref caught him roughing up an opposing player. Rather than own up, the guy takes it out on the ref.

I always assume a perp is white then roll my eyes when it isn’t.

There’s clearly a problem in the cultural mores of certain minorities that glorifies thuggery and other undesirable, predatory behaviors.

As a people we’re all at increased risk as those cultural values have been progressively mainstreamed in youth over the last 10-20 years though entertainment and absentee parenting.

They need to castrate the thug and then inject him with estrogens. I am betting this guy is going to be in prison within the next five years for assault and battery or even a more serious charge. He is a member of the privileged class that will not be prosecuted until his crime is so egregious that it cannot be ignored.
