SEATTLE -- A convicted cop shooter is set to be back on the streets in just one week. But his victim says that's repeating the mistakes that led to the murders of four Lakewood police officers.
The attack rocked the Tri-Cities, especially since Lain was a parole violator from Iowa. Lain was convicted and sentenced to life after the attack on Fitzpatrick.
But now, after 28 years behind bars, the Sentencing Review Board has decided to release Lain.
"We feel like 28 years, in this case is, we hope, enough time that he will be able to successfully reintegrate back into society," said board chairperson Lynne DeLano.
In addition to Lain's stabbing conviction in Iowa and his conviction here for assaulting Fitzpatrick, Lain has had 18 serious infractions during his incarceration, although none of them came after 2004. The review board says it is releasing Lain due to the amount of time he had served, how he appeared at his parole hearing and what he'd accomplished during incarceration. DeLano believes the community will be safe.

Lain has had 18 serious infractions during his incarceration.... DeLano believes the community will be safe.
Well, I hope these board members will be able to live with themselves when this scum wastes someone.
Missouri just released a murderer after he served 30 years. He was out less than 6 months before he killed three more here in the Ozarks.
DeLano was most likely referring to her gated community.
I guess DeLano feels good about herself. And, notice, they are deporting his ass to Iowa. So when he eventually does go off and kills someone, it will be a thousand miles away. Massachusetts officials have a history of this kind of behavior.
I live in the ozarks, can you provide a link or source?
Hopefully some family members of the victims will be waiting, following and eventually helping to integrate him into the Earth.

Is it possible for the Sentencing Review Board to be held liable for releasing someone who has a pretty decent chance of recidivism?
Another reason to buy another gun, go to the range, or teach some one else how to shoot a gun responsibly - or all of the above.
Maurice Clemmons, who shot four Lakewood, WA police officers, is dead. He was shot by a police officer during the manhunt.
A little less than 30 years. The Missouri Department of Corrections says McCabe went to prison on April 3, 1980, and was released on parole on Sept. 23, 1988. He returned to prison on Oct. 22, 1990, and was again released on parole on Oct. 22, 1991. He returned to prison on Nov. 29, 1993, and was released again on parole on Nov. 22, 2002. He again returned to prison on March 25, 2003, and was released last Feb 24 with no parole because hed completed his entire sentence for the murder, plus a consecutive five-year sentence for a burglary to which he pleaded guilty in March 1980.
He’s as close to a sociopath as we have seen around here...
This attempted cop killer received a “life sentence.”
So now he is eligible for parole??? He should have had a death sentence with a swift implementation of his punishment.
“Justice” will never be implemented by our current govt at either the state or federal level. It is time, no it is way past time, for citizens to empower themselves to enforcement of the laws of a just society. Remember that the current govts are instituted by the “consent of the governed”. We are responsible for all good and bad done in our name.
Then she won't mind putting him up in her house for a few months.
“We feel like 28 years, in this case is, we hope, enough time”
Betting the lives of innocent people on ‘hope’.
This POS Lain has been in for 28 years, committed 18 serious infractions but hasn't had one for 6 years so they're going to put the turkey back out in public.
If he does it again they ought to put DeLano in the slammer with him.
