New York's past performances [Government Ineptitude]

Wherever there is a New York politician, there is never the lack of calamity.

The year draws to a close in New York with the racing game again in the grip of high anxiety. The betting shops in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island are dark and shuttered. The fraternity of clowns and scoundrels formerly known as the New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation are among the unemployed. They have the fraternity of clowns and scoundrels known as the New York State Senate to thank for their plight. Tens of millions of dollars owed to the New York Racing Association, the state's breeders and racetracks across the nation are likely never to be paid. Fear mongering is in high gear.

In truth, however, NYCOTB is better dead. It was nothing more than a jobs program for the politically connected and overpaid, a corrupt, shameless, wasteful parasite that lived off an industry that it slowly bled.

There are few sagas that tell one more about what government has become in America than that of the New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation. Waste, corruption, ineptitude, squalor, complete disregard for the goose laying the golden eggs, OTB had it all.

NY State just killed the drilling of the Marcellus shale in the Southern tier area, for natural gas. Smart thing for a broke state to do.

Then my idiot NY Neigbors voted in another dhimmicrat for Governor....

what stupidity.

I would need a divorce to leave....do to my wife’s aged parents who will not move...or I would take them too....

I have an affection for places like Arizona, New Mexico and parts of Texas...but alas I can only visit them.

OTB in this city (NYC) has long been a dumping ground for political hacks who were either too stupid or too dumb to dump anywhere else.

I believe it was Ray Kerrison of the New York Post (one of the best newspaper columnists ever, in my opinion) who pointed out years ago how ironic and idiotic it was that the New York City government was the only entity on the planet that could lose money running a gambling operation.

Pobre Vaquero!

The people whose votes swing the state have no, none, ninguna, idea of what the heck you are talking about. Marcellus Shale? Southern Tier? Natural Gas? Al Sharptonites have no more clue about where, what, and why this is, than they do about the Moons of Uranus. Or Theiranus.

The voters go from a useless Stevie Wonder look-alike to a Hulk look-alike; WTF? Just keep that money flowing to them, please. Keep the peace, so that about half-a- Million wealthy hipsters can keep their party going without the natives getting nasty.

no speaka the hispanish.

my ‘Vaquero’ name has to do with cowboys and the gun made by sturm ruger of which I have 2.

“Pobre Vaquero”

I looked it up....poor vaq...oh but I do understand Bunky...

the morons who swing the vote might change their votes if they thought that the state could become wealthy and thus increse their welfare if the natural gas was drilled for...

but they are too busy collecting the welfare checks and buying their crack, having baby mommys, and watching their flat screen TVs to understand anything.

If only our welfarites better understood the Norwegian Model, by which every valid family unit receives a hefty check based on exploitation of their oil reserves!

Of course, Norway, like ourselves, except much much smaller (their are fewer Norwegians than welfare recipients in NY and NJ)is also infested with algorites who believe the natural world is doomed because of the excesses of white people and that the people of color who are daily ripping off and raping them are somehow more noble than they are.

Somehow doesn't prevent them from taking the money!
