...and I suggest you do the same.
Boehner is faced with either voting for a democrat tax "compromise" bill laden with pork and earmarks on everything from windmills to ethanol production, or throwing it out and starting over. If he votes to support it, he will have not only caved to a lame-duck democrat majority to lose the very first battle of the House, he will have shown the democrats that everything the American people voted for ends on the Capitol steps.
And that is the real issue. With a resounding cry of "ENOUGH!", Americans voted against business as usual in Washington this past month. We're waiting to see if we have to do it again with the next election cycle. If the Boehner-led republicans continue the fat-cat, backroom-deal making that got incummbent RINOs thrown out of office along with the democrat garbage, the republican party is toast.
Call (202) 225-3121 and ask for John Boehner's office to let him know how you feel about his consideration of rolling over in the first inning.
I’m really ticked about this crying business.
We finally win a big one and we’ve a big ‘ole crybaby trying to wage battle?
What he said bump!
Here is just one of my missives that I fired across the bows of several ships today...
“I find it very interesting that there is no listing for “Governmental Reform” on your topic list.... because honestly, that is what November was ALL about.
It is our expectation that you will do everything in your power to encourage all members to hold off on any and all votes until we seat the new members in January!! The legislation that has been passed since the election, and the bills that are still awaiting passage are EXACTLY the kind of action that Americans voted AGAINST, and on earmarks, hear us loud and clear - They Must Stop!!
I think it is clear that you all need to understand something.
The citizens of this great nation want governmental growth and the intrusion upon our GOD given freedoms stopped. Everything that has gone through since the election, along with S510 and the ENTIRE healthcare horror MUST be repealed! And Washington must reform the way it goes about it’s day to day business, because the way it has been done in NO way serves the American public. Washington clearly only serves itself, and that MUST stop. We are here to serve YOU.
We will NOT go back to blissful ignorance. We ARE paying attention; that was the message, and we meant it.
Thank you.”
They need us ALL to send them the message AGAIN.
May God give us the strength we will need.
Tatt
LOL!! I MEANT to say NOT to serve you, laughs, but it is ok, because I just added that line on this draft, still laughing... I never send the same letter twice, because I continually self edit, and keep coming up with even better thoughts!! LOL.
Feel free to pilfer, but just fix that typo!!
Tatt ; }
No disrespect intended, but really? Is that how they passed S510 last week? I see no gridlock - heck I wish I did! And I think from what staffers have said today, that the Dems will get even crazier, and try to push more and more as they approach the break : o
Also, I am not really sure where you are going with your overrall theme. I have read over your post twice, and am not sure if you are saying to cool down, that the Republicans will fix it all in January, or that we must bring about a third party because they will never move the conservative agenda forward?
Clarification please?
FReeregards,
Tatt
We hired you clowns to STOP spending...end the pork express; and end it now. Quit compromising with these communist SOB’s on the left...
Boehner would cry at the opening of a strip mall - and no that is another occasion where it is not appropriate.
“I just wish some FReepers would wait until he takes office before judging him a failure.”
Not to worry, it’s to be expected. The deal is done, and now we move on. For me it means investing in a way to take advantage of the deal. For some others, it means looking for the next windmill. It’s all good, this is America at work.
Thanks, no disrespect taken. To your first point, ‘gridlock’, which means “compromise required to pass legislation” is just getting started. Yes, the Dem tyrants will try to pass anything they can before they leave office. That’s over very soon. Then we enter a different period, where neither party has enough control to pass legislation without help from the other side. The first example is the deal being done today. It’s not great, but I think shutting it down would be politically dangerous.
The American people have spoken, and their main theme is that they want Congress to work together, not that they want conservatives to fold their arms while we spiral down. Astounding as it may be, Americans are calling for a congress of McCains.
As for your question about my overall theme, my belief is that the majority of Republican politicians are moderate to moderately conservative, which also reflects the majority view of the party faithful. The majority of Freepers are well to the right of most Republicans. I don’t think the Republicans will move the conservative agenda very far until there are more conservatives in the party and the country.
I don’t put much stock in the polls that show 40% of the country calling themselves conservative. In Freeper land, we are talking rock-ribbed conservative, which means maybe 25% of America. I think we hard conservatives have a very inflated idea of our numbers.
As for a third party, I think it’s a good idea in theory, but problematic in practice. The two party system has a stranglehold on power that will be hard to break. So I must confess I don’t know if it’s better to work with Republicans or form a new party. I’m an independent as the Republican party is too liberal for me these days. I still vote for Republicans since they are a little better than Democrats.
I like Boehner, I think he’s a good man. That doesn’t mean I will agree with him on everything. I don’t see anyone else who is electable to the post that would make a better Speaker.
I get your frustration. I think you are confusing politics with principles. I agree with you on your principles. Every successful politican learns the art of the possible as opposed to demanding the imposssible. Well, other than Ron Paul and Ralph Nader anyway.
Yes, we are infested with commies, statists, whatever label you prefer. We can work around them through the system or have a shooting war. It’s not time for a shooting war yet.
The left never compromises? Obama has screamed about taxing the rich for 4 years. He just compromised. During the Obamacare battle he compromised on the government option. The left will often compromise if lefties think they can head in a desired direction by doing so. They are incrementalists, and damn good at it.
It will be interesting watching the two parties negotiate over the next two years. The party that refuses to compromise will lose the American people. Most people want to see things work like the old days, both sides working together. We must not be as blind as the Democrats have been for the last two years. with their arrogant abuse of power. We have a limited foothold in the halls of power, not a mandate.
Have a good Christmas anyway, OK? You still live in the greatest country to ever grace the planet.
Your comments give me comnfort that there are still rational adults on FR.
Thanks. That’s quite a compliment considering all you have seen since your join date.
Well, we all can’t be you now, can we?
Boehner is not Speaker.
[the realization Boehner—and McConnell et all—do not want us interfering.]
Sounds like they need a ‘winter tea party’. You do what you can with your attempts to call.
Some of you folks reflexively oppose any form of compromise.
Look, we do not have control yet. If this is not voted on before break, our taxes will go up, period.
There is some money being tossed in here as sweeteners for “moderate” Dems. It stinks, but it’s Washington. That’s life.
We won’t have much ability to push our way through until January.
We must use our energy for critical issues like opposing the DREAM act, which Boehner has voted against and will again despite the rumors on this thread.
Is he perfect? No. He has let us down at times. But the bogeyman is not always out there to get you.
Note: I am not saying a call is a bad idea....hold their feet to the fire.
Well, let's face it: who ever even heard of this turkey before this year? What has he ever done?
We will have to watch this a-hole like a hawk. I smell a Denny Hastert sneaking in the side door.
