Cleveland - Boxing promoter Don King was stopped by security at Cleveland's Hopkins International Airport for having ammunition in his carry-on luggage.

“Don King was born in Cleveland, Ohio. After dropping out of Kent State University, he ran an illegal bookmaking operation, and was charged for killing two men in separate incidents 13 years apart. The first was determined to be justifiable homicide after it was found that King shot Hillary Brown in the back and killed him while he was attempting to rob one of King’s gambling houses.[1] King was convicted of second degree murder for the second killing in 1966 after he was found guilty of stomping to death an employee, Sam Garrett, who owed him $600.[1] In an ex parte meeting with King’s attorney, the judge reduced King’s conviction to nonnegligent manslaughter for which King served just under four years in prison.”

Better than Huckabee’s kid when he got caught with ammo at the airport. You get in a lot more trouble when the ammo is in a gun.:)

TSA officials confiscated the side arm and allowed King, 79, to go along his way.

That came immediately to my mind as well.

As a convicted felon he is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.

He should have been arrested.

Hello? He was not caught with a weapon ie. a gun. He was caught with AMMUNITION ie. some “bullets” or “cartridges.”

Folks go shooting or something and forget to empty all their bags or pockets.

And while trying to serve a warrant for King’s arrest for “running numbers,” Ohio police inadvertently went into the wrong residence and found pornogaphic materials. The pornography prosecution wound up reaching the US Supreme Court under the name of Mapp v Ohio, in which the court established the exclusionary rule prohibiting use of unlawfully obtained evidence.

Well if King went shooting or something and held a firearm while he was doing it he was committing a felony.

“Well if King went shooting or something and held a firearm while he was doing it he was committing a felony.”

How do you get that from the fact that he had ammo in his possession?

Can you provide proof that he, in fact, held a firearm?

/lawyer

Frankly, I think this case if very thin, and the fact that some of you are convicting him without a trial is very disturbing to me.

“Hopkins Airport spokeswoman Jacqueline Mayo says the 79-year-old King was stopped by members of the Transportation Safety Administration on Sunday night. She says King had ammunition for .38-caliber and .357-caliber firearms in his bag.

Mayo says the ammunition was taken and that King was released to continue his trip, she believes to Florida. She said she didn’t know if King received a citation.

King didn’t immediately return a telephone message seeking comment.

WIOI-TV in Cleveland first reported the incident and said King was in Cleveland for his wife’s funeral.

Eighty-seven-year-old Henrietta King died Thursday in Florida from complications from stomach cancer.”

No firearm reported...
