Its 1:05am monday, I was busy sunday night but I had her show recorded, I’m watching it right now. That was pretty educational about a bear charging at you and how much time you have to get off as many shots possible.
Arguably a pump action is more reliable but I carry an old but completely restored Winchester Model 11 semi-auto 12 gauge.
With one in chamber all you do is keep pulling the trigger.

Its basically identical to the Browning A5 except mine only uses 2 3/4” shells, but I know I can empty it faster than using a pump action, the barrel is only 19” long. First two rounds are 00 buck and the rest are rifled slugs.

Her gun shop Chimos used to be a lot bigger but when Sportsmen Warehouse moved into Wasilla they downsized, I know those guys behind the counter. And then ironically Sportsmen Warehouse almost closed its doors, its a good place to get almost anything but Chimos to me will be more informative and specialized.

Whats kinda funny is that most Alaskans when they go camping they do it by motorhome and I know the Palins have a really nice one at there disposal, flying out to the bush is of course real camping and is less likely to have the paparazzi around. Myself I prefer to have an RV or a trailer, even in the summer it can be cold at night, you have a place to get away from the bugs and you have a bit more security.

This summer and when this episode was filmed was very wet, it set records on the consecutive days of rain we had up here, I ride a motorcycle but usually only on my days off and on weekends and there wasn’t a whole heck of a lot of sunny weekends last summer.

In the beginning of the show she was climbing The Butte, its a huge volcanic “knob” that sticks out in the SE part of the valley and can be seen almost all over. There is a lot of farms all around it and was where the original settlers enlisted from Wisconsin and Minnesota and such back in around 1930. The rivers which are two is the Knik and the Matanuska.

There is a big airport at Palmer where both firefighting aircraft are stationed and air freight specialist. I was kinda surprised to see an ultralight there, yes we have quite a few of them but they usually hang out up near Birchwood.

Little by little we see a bit of Alaska, myself I wish she would do more about Wasilla, Palmer and the highway to Fairbanks.

Dad has asked several times about the windows in the Palin home. We have double pane here, but the cold air still gets through. Is there special glass used for such a large expanse of windows?

You could try an additional glass on the outside.

Sadly, the KDS is strong in both places!

So you're disagreeing with Chuck Heath?

That size of glass is at least double paned and filled with an inert gas. And its not uncommon to install triple pane.

I have a double pane e-rated window thats supposed to be pretty efficient and yet I can still feel the cold through it so I would think for that size of a window they may be triple.

All my house has double paned windows, the very high quality ones are drawn down to a vacuum and they add a dry inert gas so as to prevent fogging, and yes they are expensive.

Great point! It was All About Kate, unfortunately.

By not introducing the children by name, it makes them seem more like a 'litter' than a family. A sad, dysfunctional train wreck conducted for viewer amusement. I wonder if the children will grow up and look back and ask why? How bad will it have to get for them?

Showing Kate in context with the wholesome Palins makes her look like even more of a monster.

I’m with you on that, but to each his own.

It’s nothing to get excited about.

Thanks for such a uplifting statement! We all need these from time to time and they seem to be especially beneficial when we see what is happening in our beloved Country as a result of political malfeasance by so many who seem to have lost sight of the oath they each took upon assuming their office.

Same here.I saw that part,if I had my dads old Remington 1100 auto I could have emptied it before the target got to me.

My dad bought it back in the 1960s and ran tens of thousands of shells through it.Never jammed, never missed a beat. The only thing he did to it was change barrels to hunt birds with it. He passed away back in 2001 and it probably hasn't been shot twice since then. I know if I ever needed it I could pick it up and would never miss a beat.

We have e-glass (double pane with gas added) on our windows here too. But as you say can still feel the cold. I've added some of the honeycomb window shades (expensive too) and that has helped. We have no windows on the north side and large windows on the south to let light(heat?) in.

Was just wondering if there was something more efficient. No triple panes here.

Regardless she has a beautiful view in the summer....Maybe they have a way of insulating more in the winter.

Thanks for the information.

I don’t get the appeal of living the homeless lifestyle while still paying — and in fact adding to — the bills of a normal middle-class household.

Wish we could have seen it. But we are in a hotel in San Francisco and the TLC channel is non-stop basketball.

Then perhaps she should have stayed in her hotel and let her kids go have fun....but, no, that wouldn’t work. The camera would be on others, not her. Where was the nanny? I bet she would have stayed with the kids so princess Kate could go seek comfort...but, then, the camera wouldn’t be on Kate. Poor thing....

Sarah Dad had the last words... did you catch ‘em? LOL.

Did you, nutmeg?

Hmmm... not sure that I did, FRiend. I may have to watch the episode over again so I can be sure to catch little stuff that I may have missed.

I agree with other FReepers here who've said that Sarah's Dad should have his own show... very interesting guy!

I agree that not many people could live with Kate, but Jon did cheat before they were separated.

Was that before or after he had been relegated to the garage?

Hi onyx!

I watched this last night but couldn’t get away to the computer to join in.

Does anyone think that Sarah MAYBE could have bribed a bear just to give Kate a little scare? Maybe get that brown bear who’s an actor to have done it. After watching this episode, that is my new fantasy!

Just watch, the liberals in the media will say how Sarah shot Yogi LOL

Given how bad the poor excuse for a movie looks to be, that will probably earn Palin extra admiration.
